tompkins + hawk
Watched one of the red-tailed hawks land on the cross of a church.Spotted one of the red-tail hawks while walking Maddy.Maddy seemed uneasy and when I looked up I noticed one of the red-tailed hawks was watching us! Eeeek!Walking through Tompkins, one of the baby hawks was hanging on a lampost.Only a little bigger than a pigeon (they get a lot bigger when they're fully grown).Oh, shit is he looking at us? Let's GTFO of here, Maddy! And your little dog too!Not used to see hardcore predation on a Monday afternoon! Look at his bloody beak! He was tearing off pieces......and gobbling them down like the steely-eyed raptor he is.Later that evening, while walking Maddy in Tompkins Square Park, I watched one of the resident hawks swoop down and nab an unlucky squirrel. On Saturday we were walking through Tompkins Square Park and we saw the red-tailed hawk hanging out in the children's playground......waiting for some delicious unattended children to show up!Keep on eye on your small dog!
