Schweaty me after two hours of extreme physical activity on the 5th floor of a NYC building with no AC in July. Arrived a few minutes late to... ...evening aikido class. Tuesday morning bruise-assment of of Monday evening's aikido elbow-injury. Ouch! Small aikido class on Sunday morning (only 4 other pairs of shoes!). Went out for beers after Monday's class. 8am aikido class. Went to an aikido seminar with another class out in Brooklyn. Got this neat little book of excellent sayings by the guy who founded aikido. Fun to thumb through them over and over. On Monday night I passed my first belt test in aikido. (Also managed to go to 10 classes in May...oof). Jo (staff) Bokken (sword) ...and when I got home in the evening the wood weapons that I'd ordered for aikido class had been delivered. Two-hour Sunday morning aikido class kicked my ass. Made it to the 9am Aikido class on Sunday Tuesday morning's assessment of Monday evening's aikido injury. Ouch. When you get flipped a hundred times a class, ouches tend to happen. Post aikido-class elbow injury inspection. I went out with the aikido gang again after Monday's evening class in order to say farewell to Subodh who was moving to CA! Went out to an Indian brunch with my aikido dojo after our early Sunday morning class. ...and after going to aikido for a few weeks in gym clothes, I finally liked it enough to invest in a gi. Ta-da. ...I still made it to Monday night's class. Fun to get to the top of the stairs and see how big the class is going to be by the number of shoes laid out in the hallway. Despite a gnarly wrist-bruise from getting my arm chewed up with wrist-locks at aikido class... Later Wednesday night, I went to try an Aikido class for the first time.
