In addition to tarot, I'd also been throwing a lot of coins to consult the I Ching - one of the oldest forms of divination. You throw 3 coins, 6 times to generate a hexagram (which is comprised of 2 trigrams). Here's the chart you use to look up the hexagram you've genereated with your coin tosses.

On Sunday afternoon, I asked the I Ching to elaborate about the outcome of my decision to resign my lease and stay in the same apartment. Then I threw 3 quarters 6 times. After a normal first roll, I ended up throwing all head or all tails for the last 5 rolls. A rare and auspicious roll. (1:8 of all tails or all heads. So if my probability math is correct [and it most likely isn't!] the odds of rolling all-heads OR all-tails five times in a row is 40:1). An interesting reading, indeed. It's hard to justify taking a vacation when you work for yourself. I decided to consult the I Ching about taking a 2-week trip to Belize. I wanted to go, but was worrying that I should stay at home and try to secure another client.
When something is bothering me, consulting the I Ching gives the half of your brain that doesn't use language a series of lines to attach meaning to. It's a great way to sound out decisions with yourself. I got an answer that felt meaningful:

Been getting very into I Ching divination. I enjoy using the 3-coin method. When you are interested in an outcome and you throw a lot of "hot rolls" (all heads or all tails) it makes for interesting reading!
