tagged together in 10 photos nypd + hurricane sandy The police station looked like something out of a Resident Evil movie. Cracked glass door, nobody inside, dark except for STROBING emergency lighting. STAY AWAY! This is the last pic I snapped before bundling up with Maddy (no power = no heat!) and going to sleep. By 10pm almost all of the car headlights had died out and the street was getting dark. Long camera exposure. Door handles covered! ...I've never seen the East River this far west before. Haha. Wheels completely covered now. Three feet high and rising! ...I went back upstairs to watch the surreal show from my window. As the water slowly crept up, cars with low-clearance started flooding with water. This police van came by... ...to pick up all the cops who were stranded in their cruisers in the now-five-inch-deep water. The daring rescue was a success. All ankles were kept dry!
