This is the last pic I snapped before bundling up with Maddy (no power = no heat!) and going to sleep.
police
By 10pm almost all of the car headlights had died out and the street was getting dark. Long camera exposure.
police
Door handles covered!
police
...I've never seen the East River this far west before. Haha.
police
Wheels completely covered now. Three feet high and rising!
police
...I went back upstairs to watch the surreal show from my window.
police
As the water slowly crept up, cars with low-clearance started flooding with water. This police van came by...
police
...to pick up all the cops who were stranded in their cruisers in the now-five-inch-deep water.
police
The daring rescue was a success. All ankles were kept dry!
police
Po-po beach cruiser and no waves.
police
Had a windowsill visit from my dear friend, Mr. Moth.
police
Police (very nosily) escorting a protest through our neighborhood.
police
Wheatpasted all around the East Village.
police
Walking Maddy later that evening, I spotted this new matte-black Lenco Bearcat parked in the NYPD garage on my block.
police
Lots of police, but they for the most part seemed amused / interested.
police
Luckily, no one was hurt too badly!
police
...and was well over forty feet away!
police
...had flipped over...
police
The other car...
police
...because of some crazy accident. Looks like that car made a left in front of a car that was coming down the hill.
police
On our walk down one of those crazy steep streets, we noticed traffic had been closed off..
police
Tuli-popo on the walk to work.
police
Police pulling over someone driving a golf cart! Haha.

Cops at RollerJam USA, Staten Island 1:48am.

Plus, on the way back, we got lucky and spotted another one worth a lot of points: PHOTO OF TOURISTS LOOKING AT A MAP!
police
...that had an awesome license plate. Add a "J" to the end and it's Gurj's SATANMOBILE.
police
On the walk home from the bar, I saw an old 70s police car...
police
On Saturday morning Meredith and I woke up super early so that we could carpool up to Maine to spend the three-day Memorial weekend at our friends' James & Gretchen's wedding!
police
But, hey, what's a couple of extra bucks if it's gonna make some dude's day (and help keep all these statues safe!)
police
At most of the antiquities sites in Egypt, there are armed guards like this. They all beckon you over (and you pretty much have to go because why would you ever risk disrespecting a man wearing a black wool uniform in the desert sun and carrying an assault-rifle) and when you go over and say hi - they ask you to take a picture of them, then do their best to shake you down for a "tip" for the privilege of capturing them in their uniform.
police
Oh, did I mention? Drinking in public is A-OK in Japan. Here's Mike D. putting down a pint can of Kirin right in front of the Shibuyu police station.
police
On Saturday afternoon I went over Ellen's house to play dress up for a photo shoot.
police
Officer Battjer on Nip Patrol.
police
Then the cops showed up.
police
Turns out, he'd just gotten off and was there to have a few drinks and sing. Awww, yeah.

Clark: "Look kids!" Audrey & Rusty: "Yeah, we know dad. It's Big Ben."
police
Oh, I forgot to mention, shortly before we arrived at the bar, some huge guy in the Marines was kidding around outside and accidentally threw a hipster through the 8' x 4' plate-glass window. Man, oh, man - what I wouldn't have given to have seen it first hand.
police
Dave and I repraZent on the law enforcement tip, yo.
While out walking around, I spotted a weird flying object and filmed this video of it. (I submitted it to EVGrieve - there were Occupy Wall Street marches going on and the consensus is that I probably filmed an NYPD drone)
