Oh you know, buying hats...making friends!
strangers
On the subway spotted this guy wearing nearly transparent white bike shorts to showcase the absolute button mushroom of a smenis he was rocking. Well, alllllright ladies!
strangers
Sometimes the best way to get a group photo of your friends is to offer to take a group photo of ANOTHER group.
strangers
Went to Lucy's for a drink and randomly ended up having drinks with two strangers. One was 21 the other was 70. Gotta love Lucy's. <3
strangers
Sarah made friends with a dress twin!
strangers
Girl on left rules for "sneaky smoking" pot on the curb via GASMASK BONG. LOL!
strangers
Love these two!
strangers
The view from his waiting couch is a view of lots of other meeting rooms. Fun to people watch business meetings from afar. (I like to Mystery Science Theater 3000 what they're saying to each other IN MY MIND!)
strangers
...and watched this guy walk his CAT ON A LEASH in a tree! Haha.
strangers
He stepped back to get a better look and then just left, shaking his head. Lol.
strangers
I watched this guy just stand in the snow looking at his car buried for more than five minutes.
strangers
Spotted this sweet Sex Money Weed shirt on the walk home
strangers
Hahaha. So good.
strangers
We were in the waiting room with the ultimate winners of the Look Like My Dog contest.
strangers
While walking the dog on Thursday morning, I saw these posters up to commemorate the life of Ian Jones. (I went home and looked it up and learned that he drowned in the Hudson River while kayaking with his girlfriend. Sad).
strangers
...in purple camo en route.
strangers
Turn Back Time Cher with Battleship Boyfriend was my fave costume at Alan's party!
strangers
Pretty great.
strangers
Big fan of other peoples' old-time photos on display.
the october roundup
October, 2014
strangers
...there are a million ways to die. Thanks, guy on the bus!
strangers
Don't worry, Little One! You're coming on the bus with me back to New York City where...
strangers
...taped to a bench. For Elle Had to Go.
strangers
Was walking the hounds and took a picture of these two kids fooling around with the hamper coming out of the laundry mat.
strangers
The face of a man who's been ripped from the scene.
strangers
Walking Maddy through the park on Wednesday and spotted a photo scrap by a bike.
strangers
I was walking out, she was walking in! Look who I ran into on the way home! If you need a pack of smokes, a toy with blinking lights or a DVD with either variety of a person having sex with a horse ("You want man fuck horse or horse fuck man?") THIS is your lady! (I've been running into her on the mean, late-night streets of NYC since 2005!)
strangers
...and found that it was wholly-occupied by a barefooted Jesus-looking guy dancing in a filthy white robe. This song's all you!
strangers
Ottos was pretty empty. We made our way towards the little dance floor in the back...
strangers
We cheered them on.
strangers
The neighbors across the street even treated us to a sort-of-synchronized sparkler dance!
strangers
So fun to watch them!
strangers
Every time I thought someone was about to get a broken neck, they'd swing into a new position and everything was fine.
strangers
Went to the park to eat bagels with Grant. Watched a group of people do acro together!
strangers
...you never know what you're going to find when you come around the curve. Hit the jackpot this evening with some Chinese women doing a synchronized dance routine to a song blasting on a nearby boombox.
strangers
While walking Maddy through Tomkins, we briefly paused to admire this hunk, you know, just hanging out in the dog park all casual. Probably waiting to meet an OKCupid date.

Her: "The dog park? Sure! That would be a great first place for us to meet. How will I find you there?" Him: "Oh, you'll see me."
strangers
Back in Whistler later that evening, Grant and I were eating dinner outside when we watched a stumbly drunk dude briefly slow down and and artfully pee his name in excellent cursive before lurching onward. Nicely done, Brett!
strangers
I also had the very "New York" experience of getting closer and casually realizing, "Oh, I know that guy."
strangers
Four women and one guy covered in body paint...
strangers
Walking home, I spotted a dreamlike scene in the garden.
strangers
...performing a long, semi-repeating dance / ritual ceremony.
strangers
1. Air (Yellow) represents mind and thoughts, the ability to think.
2. Water (Blue) represents emotions.
3. Fire (Red) represents will, the ability to direct your thoughts and emotions towards action on the physical plane.
4. Earth (Green) represents all the materials on the physical plane that the three subtle-elements interact with.
5. Space (White), or aether, represent the "5th element" and it is the "background canvas" or "cosmic lattice" that the "material earth" is projected upon.
strangers
While I believe that the "five elements" actually related to a funamental truth about the structure of matter at the microcosmic level, I also really like how in alchemy they're used as a metaphor for the ingredients of human experience.
strangers
The more I read about different cultures spiritual beliefs, the more surprised I am to learn about how the "elements" come up in almost all cultures.
strangers
"Oh, you know - just checking my texts and sunning dese tits. Hoping some cool people stop in this bar I'm hanging out at." Whaaaaaa?
strangers
...the old "get your pretty friend to stand outside on the street topless" marketing move!
strangers
While adjusting the blinds on Thursday afternoon...
strangers
...I spotted the new restaurant down the block trying out a new marketing strategy for their afternoon happy hour...
strangers
BUTCH, PLEASE
strangers
We also had the pleasure of watching this lady repeatedly trying to fight off an afternoon nap...
strangers
...and failing in the best way possible. Every time she'd fall asleep her head would go ALL the way back and for a brief glorious moment she'd look like a human PEZ dispenser and then when she'd wake up, she'd snap her head upright. SO. FUCKING. FUNNY.
strangers
Check it out: 8-Ball. You got a question? You ask the 8-ball!
strangers
...but it just turned out to be a guy with a similar-shaped noggin.
strangers
Got excited for a moment because I thought maybe Larry David was sitting a few seats away...
strangers
Percy was an awesome guide. We paused at this huge bamboo grove to listen to the CAH-RAZY sounds of the howler monkeys in the distance barking / screaching to each other!
strangers
Seatmates.
strangers
Leigh and Randy had just recently moved into this apartment. In the middle of getting a tour (a joke in Manhattan because it only takes like 90 seconds to see the entirety of pretty much anyone's apt), someone looked out the window and noticed...
strangers
Keeping dem socks on like a boss!
strangers
...neighbors across the street and down a floor were celebrating their thankfulness with some fucking!
strangers
Absurd.
strangers
strangers
These guys were using calling cards to get in touch with relatives overseas.
strangers
...this section of destroyed boardwalk still contained a working payphone.
strangers
Not managing to find death on this particular corner, he bravely trudged on through the now-waist-deep water to search for his demise elsewhere.
strangers
...this dude out wading around in the flood waters. Here he is taking a rest holding onto the metal box that houses all of the high-voltage circuits for the traffic lights. Smart!
strangers
On the subway ride home I stood next to this guy's awesome Grant Wood costume on the platform. Haha.
strangers
Late night group singalong!
strangers
We returned from a swim to find we'd gotten a new neighbor, who from our vantage point, seemed to be completely naked. Leigh tiptoed in for a closer look.
strangers
Going for it.
strangers
Hahaha.
strangers
...2pm bus back to NYC where our nearby seatmate demonstrated some serious home-brewed innovations in iPad glare-reduction!
strangers
Afternoon ice cream at Lula's! (Bonus points for the the thumbs up from a stranger in the background. Haha)
strangers
Running errands around the neighborhood caught this guy snoozing in front of his garage sale.
strangers
There's a lady who spends her days looking for four leaf clovers in Tompkins Square park!
strangers
Later that afternoon while taking Maddy for a walk, I spotted two of my neighbors all dressed up and asked if I could snap their pic. (I'm pretty sure the guy on the right is THE DEVIL OF TOMPKINS PARK!)
strangers
On Thursday afternoon, I biked over to this guy's apartment to photograph a room that he'd listed as available for rent. Grant was getting ready to move back to NY from Vancouver and I was helping him scout a new apartment. (That's what friends are for...)
strangers
...make a new travel buddy! Like this sleepy little abuela who spent most of the bus ride bouncing her tiny snoozing noggin against my shoulder. Haha. Adorable.
strangers
On the walk home we met these really drunk English guys who had both gotten their hair braided and one of them got a henna Mike Tyson face-tattoo! Excellent!
strangers
One of the dudes asked if he could get in on our cab with us and then promptly proceeded to pass out on Grant's shoulder. Haha.
strangers
Later that evening I took the L train out to Brooklyn to meet up with Vin and hit a house party. While waiting for the train I spotted this guy dressed up in all pink!
strangers
On Tuesday evening I was walking Maddy through Tompkins when I happened to have a chance encounter with The Dark Lord.
strangers
He was surprisingly soft-spoken.
strangers
On the way back from our hike, we met a friendly Australian and chatted a bit in the shade while we waited for the tide to go down...
strangers
Afterparty at Lucy's, woooo!
strangers
...piano & banjo combo!
strangers
These two were stopped at a traffic light and I asked if I could take a photo of their awesomeness. So good!
strangers
Congrats, other Meredith! Let's hear it for internet strangers!
strangers
Later that night, we went to Lucy's to say hi to Meredith who was in town from Wisconsin with her friends to celebrate her bachelorette party!
strangers
With Babuska lady for scale.
strangers
...and immediately turned me into a pigeon-perch!
strangers
Nom nom.
strangers
I chatted with him a bit (very nice guy) and asked him if I could have some birdseed. He reached into his pockets...
strangers
Me? Oh, you know. Just chillin.
strangers
On the walk back through the park, we stopped to watch a gentleman who was making a big show of getting crazy with the pigeons. Leigh thinks pigeons are terrible filth-birds and couldn't even watch what he was doing. Hahaha.
strangers
Just hanging out on the beach twirling my umbrella. You know how I do.
strangers
On our way back to the bar, we ran into this girl on the street who looked like my sister from another mister!
strangers
Playing Ms Pacman! 10 POINTS!
strangers
If you've got to talk to strangers and ask them to do weird things, you want Catrinel on your team! Not even a block later, jazz hands with a stranger! 10 POINTS!
strangers
Before we'd even left the park, Cat managed to charm a stranger into letting her push a baby in stroller. 10 POINTS!
strangers
Stranger passed out in a park! 10 POINTS!

There was a lady dressed like a cat who reminded me of Cat!
