On Saturday morning I helped Brett assemble Max's birthday bike. Watched a man in a pirate costume pedal by on a recombinant bike that was housed in a painted, cardboard facade of a pirate ship. Lol. That afternoon, Bruce came by on his bike... ..with Dexter in a special bike-ride-along seat! Snowbike! I met up with Gurj and Jared on Sunday afternoon ...Tribecca to pick up my bike after leaving it parked outside of Aire Spa for Cynthia's birthday,56155 ! It's official. Plastic bag on the bike seat means I'm a New Yorker! My bike is in there somewhere! Hung out in the park with Grant and Catrinel... Took the tricycle for one last out-of-control run down the hill... ...even more unfuckable with! (Writing this in Dec of 2016 and my bike has still not been stolen fucked-with since despite it being parked on the street every night!) ...and a special new neck-lock that requires a unique-bolt to remove it making my bike... Got a new handlebar stem... I keep my bike on the street and once every few years (my bike is armored up pretty good) someone manages to fuck with it. (Solved it with another piece locking hardware for the stem). Brought my bike up into my apartment to worry about later... Walking Maddy through the park on Wednesday and spotted a photo scrap by a bike. Look, you can actually see the gears again! Blech! So much crustiness! Brought my bike inside on Tuesday evening to clean my gunky chain. Tuesday was my last day in town. We got up early and rented bikes! Upright bike posture! Later that evening Fatty came over for a visit... Very excited for the bikes to arrive. On Monday morning workers showed up to install a rack for New York City's new bike-sharing program. Took a break from working at home to bike over to my local falafel shop for lunch. Mmmm. Nothing to do but hang out, admire my rental bike... On Sunday morning I biked down to East Broadway... After working up an appetite... Later in the afternoon, I met up with Jared... High altitude = empty water bottles! We were exhausted from hiking and biking in the sun and after we returned our bikes... After we'd finished marveling at the exotic marmotini , we headed into Boulder to rent bikes! My bike was stolen on Sunday night! After 7 years of trusty service, it finally got nabbed. On Wednesday night, I got a new bike. (Note from Dec 2014: Still riding this Jamis Coda Sport ~50 miles a week and very happy with it!) Brett lent me his bike... ...Meredith and me on a bike ride... .and my mom led... Leigh and her new bike, HERCULES. On Friday afternoon I met up with Leigh and Ryan and we went for a ride down the West Side bike path. Stopped to snap a little bike porn while I was out running errands. New wheel lights. After dinner, Clayton came over and we went for a night bike ride... ...all the way down East River Park. On Tuesday I convinced Mer to come out on a bike ride - maybe we'd get to see another turtle! ...and then made some room in the kitchen by bringing Meredith's short-lived bike from her parent's basement over to Continuum Cycles. I couldn't fit my bike into the car, so I had to come all the way back out to pick it up... ...and then we rented bicycles! Meredith had a terrible bike accident when she was a little kid and never really got around to getting back on one so we decided to give it a shot! Get it! ...and started heading back. Really fun to have an empty, wide-open path where you can pedal around... A little after 3pm, I picked up my bike... I picked up my bike and we headed back out to Rockaway on the subway. ...mounted my trusty TREK (which has since been stolen. RIP, buddy!) biked down to the B train... Pegs! On Sunday Brett and I went for a bike ride! Oh, hey! Anybody wanna mattress I usedta sleepon ora bike I usedta pedal on in my living room? Yah! I know! You can pedal as hard as you want! If you slip off the seat, you won't hurt your hoo-ha because I fashioned a protector out of an old piece of foam that I happened to have lying around and some twine! Sunday night Mer and I went out to Park Slope... Too many bicycles locked up together. 5 POINTS! Snow bike. Home sweet home! The first thing I did was bring my bike back downstairs and lock it up on the street. (Not really practical to keep a bike indoors where we live.) On Saturday morning, I rode my bike down to Tribeca... On Monday night Mer borrowed Sarah's bike... Dropped off my bike for a tune up... ...and a brand new cassette and chain! So clean and shiny! Jenny Penny rides again! ...and found a sweet bike. Around 3:30pm, we biked back so I could catch the 4pm bus back into Vancouver! ...two bikes between the three of us! We set our bikes by the lake and got our frisbee on! Auto timer! Haha. Grant is really good at riding a bike with another person on it! We met up with Aki and decided to bike over to a nearby park with... So many boats stashed everywhere. ...we started biking back to the apt. I like this picture. ...Grant didn't tell me... Back on the road... Crazy, right? Check out the little pineapple-shaped island in the distance! Lion's Gate Bridge. Haha. So many cool parks. There are bike paths everywhere. ...FOR ADVENTURE! ...we walked over to a nearby bike shop and got ourselves outfitted... I've had the same bike for 6 years, but I still like snapping pics of other peoples' snazzy bikes so that when I finally get a new one, I'll have some reference-photos. Haha.
