a person in 402 photos mom My mom kept crying because my dad's cancer was continuing to progress and we all knew this would probably be the last time we'd all be together. Family pool day! My cousin Krisit and my brother and his family were all down to visit too! My mom sent me this pic of her and my dad out to dinner with some friends. My mom and dad when on a cruise in Alaska and sent me this photo. ...and they sent me cute pics. My brother and his family were down in Florida visiting my parents... Family Christmas photos! Then an afternoon visit with grandma. Christmas morning bike ride with my mom. ...I went for a bike ride with my mom. On Sunday afternoon... My mom Christmas 1974(?) Later that night my mom and I went to visit grandma for dinner! Got up early to head to the airport with Brett. Mom came out to see us off. Mom couldn't stop crying because she kept thinking about how it was probably dad's last Christmas (it was). ...my dad's best friend Roger and his wife Bonnie for dinner. Roger is British and my dad's version of Grant. It was really sweet to watch them hang out and interact. (Sadly, Roger passed away just a few months after my dad in late 2018.) This ornament is really cute. Love looking back at old photos. (Who would've guessed that about me, right?) That evening Brett and I helped our Mom setup and decorate the Christmas Tree. Compared to this flashback pic from the late 90s! Visited with Grandma in the afternoon. Happy Thanksgiving from the Battjers! <3 My dad had been undergoing chemo and was bald! But he was in relatively good spirts and it was great to see him out of the hospital. It was an emotional farewell. My dad was discharged from the hospital after a scary two weeks. Got a Valentine's Day card in the mail! (It's from MY MOM, OKAY?) Other notable mugs in my parents cabinet include this one of my grandma and her four daughters! So good. He was really happy she flew down from NJ for his party! Later that afternoon, after I'd hosed all the lizard blood off the patio, some of my parent's friends came over early to pregame before my dad's big birthday party! Maddy loves my mom. lol Headed to dinner with my mom on the waterfront. Great to watch my parents be grandparents on Christmas. ...and snapped some pretty good photos of parents... Speaking of holiday traditions! My mom was as excited as Max. While my parents hung out with Max... Mom hanging out with Max. Mom & Max playing in the sand. My parents had rented family beach house in LBI! On my 40th birthday, I woke up to the best gift I could ask for: A text from my mother, who is learning how to text. This means that I receive excellent (and cryptic!) texts like:

I read this outloud and it makes me laugh every single time. Who knew my mom was such a fan? Spent my last evening in Florida hanging with my parents. ...the Sandia Peak Tramway... Mom & Dad OPA! Later that evening, we got dressed up and headed to the wedding! ...to get some energy out before the wedding. On Saturday we took Max to the park... Played his favorite game: GARBAGE PAIL KIDS! The next morning, I surprised Max who was playing with my mom. Took Max and the dogs out for a long walk around the neighborhood. Mom gave us stocking stuffers with Florida lottery tickets. I won $2 and she offered to buy me out so I didn't have to wait until my next trip to Florida to redeem my WINNINGS. Lunch! ...tear through all his presents! Max had just turned 3.. Pop Pop helping Max put a bracelet on. Made to my brother's house just in time for lasagna. Yes! My parents had just moved into a new house in Florida and their kitchen was still in boxes so Mom and I got dinner at Panera Bread. Cutest birthday monkey! My mom was so excited to watch Max open birthday gifts. Here's my mom's photo. Afterwards, I took her over to Magic Jewelry on Centre Street so we could get aura photos. Ready for her photo! ...and got Vietnamese for lunch. My mom ordered a wild card off the menu and was pleasantly surprised with some kind of GIANT omelette. Loving Edie on Saturday morning. Haha. My mom was up from Florida visiting friends and family in NJ and came into NY to visit. We got a late night dinner at Grape & Grain. Wait, why he laughing? Max is super into touching and holding where the action is. My brother tried to raise it out of his reach, but he wasn't deterred. Facetiming with my parents in Florida. Christmas 1987 - my brother and I freaking out about getting the long-awaited PHANTASY STAR for the Sega Master System. This was the first RPG I ever got into and it exploded both of our brains! Every summer, my family would drive up to Bow Lake in New Hampshire and spend a week at my Uncle Steven & Aunt Kathy's lakehouse on Beech Island!
