Monday, January 1st

Tuesday, January 2nd

Brining in the 2018 and celebrating the new year with a giant Thai feast for lunch! <3

Enjoyed my lunch listening to an Andreas lecture on Bitcoin (and why it's much more political than most people realize). Five years later and this video is more relevant than ever to understand what's happening in the world and why inflation is increasing everywhere.

Right after I finished watching this video, I got an email from Coinbase saying they'd closed my account. Apparently, I'd violated their TOS by buying bitcoin on behalf of my friend in another country. (Ironically, underscoring the need for money-technology that doesn't require 3rd-party permission to transact!)

maddy, next lev kev — Tuesday evening Kevin came over for a hang and a reiki trade. Maddy loves to cuddle with him.

Wednesday, January 3rd

Cleaned my apartment real good on Wednesday.

Destroyed a late night Indian feast watching some youtube lectures.

This made me LOL almost as much as it made me feel ancient.

Thursday, January 4th

Woke up to white windows...

...and a snowy day outside.

Post yoga & morning stretch routine.

Got a banana bread with my coffee from the coffee shop downstairs.

2018 was still an alt-coin hype fest. After buying some Cardano a few months prior due to Kevin's endorsement (that it was QUANTUM PROOF....lol) they finally released their wallet so I installed it to see if it was legit or bullshit.

Took hours to sync and in my opinion seemed pretty bull-shitty. lol

Walking Maddy in the snow, passed a new store front gallery in the neighborhood.

Saturday, January 6th

maddy — Maddy is equally excited to wake up...

maddy — ...as she is to settle back in for a morning snooze. Awww.

jane anne — Saturday evening Jane Anne came over to give me a gift...a set of THROWING KNIVES!

jane anne, maddy — I gave her a reiki session before she headed out.

maddy — Maddy is a little reiki sponge and likes to cuddle up between people's legs when I give treatments. lol

maddy, next lev kev — Kevin came over in the evening for a hang.

Sunday, January 7th

Sunday morning plant care bath tub watering!

Got my plants all situated and fired up the volcano for some Sunday afternoon oblivion.

Sort of surviving the winter so far.

maddy — Watched "The Men Who Stare at Goats" and there's a scene where they ask a guy to shoot a puppy who looks just like Maddy. Noooooo!

Monday, January 8th

Work from home lunch from Bob Counter. Mmmm.

I was feeling really crummy and depressed and kept adding different vitamins and supplements to my diet to try to see if anything helped. Got to the point where I was taking this many pills in the morning...and I don't really even remember what most of them were. lol.

Stayed up late going through all my song audio sketches and riffing on the ones from the past few months I liked.

Didn't play very much in November, but recorded a lot more...

Tuesday, January 9th

lauren w — On Tuesday afternoon I took Lauren, one of my product managers at Voray, out for lunch.

lukas — Later that afternoon, I went up to Leigh's to give Lukas a birthday present!

lukas — It was obviously wiener dog-related!

lukas — Leigh made me laugh showing me his holiday photo. (Tiny Doc Martins, OMG!). So cute.

Wednesday, January 10th

I like my neighborhood. Someone hung these up around the park to try to get people to pick up their dog poop. "Do the right thing"

Went and got a massage I think? Taking a pic of the table mark on my forehead.

astra, me — Later that evening I met up with Astra...

...and we went to a party at a gallery space...

...to see a bunch of different talks and art performances.

Sunday, January 14th

Spent Sunday evening setting up the virtual reality gaming system my brother shipped to me in December.

Installed the two wall-mounted LIDAR motion-tracking cubes in opposite corners of my living room.

After almost two-hours of software updates, I finally got STEAM VR working and dove into the Rick & Morty VR game!

padmasambhava — Scrolling through instagram late night and came across this Alex Grey painting of Padmasambhava!

Also submitted a selfie to the Google art-matching app and got back this pretty dead-on doppelganger.

Monday, January 15th

amy b, brett, dad, max, mom, sam — My brother and his family were down in Florida visiting my parents...

dad, max, mom, sam — ...and they sent me cute pics.

Picked up my couch to make more room for VRing in my living room.

Pretty excited about getting this guy up and running.

jeet — Around 4pm Gurj came over for a hang and wanted to try VR.

We took turns playing for 4 hours! Lol. The Vive headset has a foam faceplate that gets all sweaty so we'd hang it on my fan to dry out between turns.

Wednesday, January 17th

On Wednesday I went to Voray's fancy new office that overlooks Bryant Park

brianna — Plan for a plan with Brianna.

Came home and laughed at my vertical couch hallway.

Empanada Mama dinner. Mmmmm.

Thursday, January 18th

Thursday afternoon Halal Guys lunch.

next lev kev — Later in the evening Kevin and Vin came over and of course we played VR.

vin — Vin was mesmerized....

next lev kev — ...watching Kevin kill guys with swords in gladiatorial VR combat.

next lev kev, vin — Vin headed out a little after 10pm as Kevin and I fired up another bag on the Volcano.

Friday, January 19th

Back to Voray on Friday...

...to help with their sales and activation process...

...and to get their Sprint ceremonies scheduled!

krystyna — On Friday I went to see Krystyna Hutchinson do stand up at the Zinc comedy lounge (before she got famous doing her Guys We Fucked podcast!)

Saturday, January 20th

On Saturday I got some sandwiches and headed to Tompkins...

Got a burger AND a cheesesteak from Whitman's for dinner. Mmmmm.

Sunday, January 21st

maddy — Spent Sunday evening reading with a ween between my legs.

Empanadas and a Cuban sandwich for dinner.

Maddy caught herself a kitchen mouse for dinner! Sorry lil buddy.

Monday, January 22nd

Went into Voray on Monday and the office was a ghost town by 530. (Doh!) except for one sales dude who was still banging out calls like a boss.

maddy — When Maddy sleeps hard her eyes roll back in her head and she looks like a zombie dog.

Overdid it with a Vietnamese lunch.

Wednesday, January 24th

meredith — On Wednesday afternoon I met up with Meredith for a veggie lunch...

...at Quantum Leap in the West Village.

Yes, hello...Life Adjustment Center? I'd like to make an adjustment.

On the walk home I passed...

jane anne — Later that night I met up with Jane Anne at Wicked Willy's on Bleecker Street....

jeibi — ...to see Jeibi perform an acoustic set.

The men's room in Wicked Willy's has a mural of piratey girls looking at your dick over the urinals. Classic.

Back at home I ordered myself a late night Paquito's feast....

...and then stayed up late listening to...

Friday, January 26th

me, quinn s — On Friday Quinn came over and we finalized a deal for him to write some custom crypto-trading software for me. Was excited to give him a check and officially kick things off after a few weeks of discussions.

The trading software ingested informational alerts on different cryptocurrencies from an API I'd subscribed to. I was never a big believer in any alt-coins....but I was super interesting in day-trading them as a way of acquiring MORE BITCOIN.

Spoiler alert - a few weeks after we got the first version of the software running....the bottom fell out of the alt-coin market (for the first time) and I decided to stop working on it. Lol. Was super-fun and interesting project for a while tho!

lukas — On Friday night I went up to visit Leigh and Randy and ended up babysitting their nugget while Leigh went out to a work thing.

Saturday, January 27th

jenny penny, josh adcock, meredith, sarah, the ktb — On Saturday, a big crew got together at La Palapa to celebrate Sarah's birthday!

The cake was SWIMMING in condensed milk. OMG.

Late in the evening I took out my little box of....

...magic mushrooms and ate a big old 4 gram dose. (Here's all that was left after).

Made a nice arrangement while I waited for them to come on.

I think they're working. Lol.

Tuesday, January 30th

Tuesday afternoon I went into Voray to organize the process through which post-event feedback was collected.

Wednesday, January 31st

NEW BACK TOY ALERT!

Got this very excellent bad boy delivered on Wednesday. 10 out of 10, great for breaking up muscle knots in your back - especially between your shoulder blades!

meredith — Speaking of back health - later in the evening Meredith came over and tried out my inversion table.

Then we got a Lebanese dinner.

meredith — Then she tried out some virtual reality. Pretty excellent nerd-hang to close out January 2018!
