Right when I walked in, I spotted this gorgeous old thanka of Guru Rinpoche, Padmasambhava (The Lotus Born) from the early 1800s. ...chanting this guy's songs. Took the bus back to NYC and spent Sunday evening playing piano... Padmasambhava lived in the 8th century. He is probably best known in the west (indirectly) for authoring Bardo Thodol , known in the West as the Tibetan Book of the Dead.
