a thing in 683 photos band Oops! Here are some accidental pics from my drum lesson recital at the Williamsburg School of Music on the last night of April. Playing along with Craig! ...play in the East Village ...to see Matt's jazz trio... They were really good live. ...to see Jake's excellent band, VYLITS, play a show. Later that night I went to see the Liza Colby Sound play at Berlin. Lots of middle-aged men high-fiving each other. lol. 24 years later, I finally got to see them! I got into Jawbreaker in 1994 during my freshman year in college and didn't get a chance to see them before they broke up in 1996. ...to see the JAWBREAKER reunion show! This made me LOL almost as much as it made me feel ancient. Then we had a jam sesh together. So much fun! Later that night I went to Bowery Electric to see Amanda and Jeremy's band play! ...to see the All American Rejects play a set. On Thursday afternoon, I headed uptown to Summer Stage... We listened to Golden Darkness, Doug's solo music project from a few years back in 2012. (Still sounds great!) ...and then some of their friends played music. I wish we did this once a month. ...A VERY PICARAZZI CHRISTMAS at Frank & Liz's house! On Friday night I went to Rockwood Musichall to see Matt play a show with Mike Erico. They rocked it as always. ...then headed over to Berlin to see Liza Colby play a show! Went to see Matt play in a show at the Delancey. Later Sunday afternoon I went to Greenpoint to see Amanda play in a new band. Watched Blink from the other side of the stage. Caught my fourth and final show on tour! So interestingto see how the different audiences bring different energies to everything. Love getting to watch the show... ...the show from the side of the stage. ...take the stage! Such a treat to get to watch... "Keys by Scottie" version. Giant pile of sticks in the woods? This is what band promo photos ARE MADE OF. Here's the metal version. ...take some pretend band album covers from the 90s. Just imagine this in black and white, ok? Also very excellent to see Matt Skiba play with Blink182. (I was a huge Alkaline Trio fan back in the day). Cool to see cell phones have replaced lighters at concerts. This is old news now, but a few years back this was the first time I'd seen them turn off all the lights in the arean and only have it lit by the light from peoples' phones. This guy caught a drumstick that Travis Barker threw and was STOKED. Awesome to be a backstage fly on the wall at such a huge production. ...Blink182 sound-check to a completely-empty arena. (This was a crazy, surreal experience to have!) ...and up to the side of the main stage just in time to watch... Excellent show. Fun to hear this album 10 years later. It was Andy's birthday and we all got to sing him happy birthday. Awww. Travis even crowd-surfed! Lol. Great show. ...with this guy. You're A Part of It Tour. Owel. Later that evening I went to Webster hall to see Piebald... Wednesday night I went to see Kai perform some original songs on 12th Street. Rocking a tight Freddy Merc look years before they decided to make a movie. ;) ...to see The Twilight Sad with Sarah. On Tuesday night I went over to Bowery Ballroom... Tuesday night, stopped to listen to these guys play in the park. Sunday night I went over to Bowery Electric to see my neighbor Liza's awesome band, the Liza Colby Sound! She always puts on such an amazing show! Afterwards I walked down the beach to see POWERS set! Made it back to the hotel in time to see Run the Jewels! I ran outside the hotel at night because Rage Against the Machine was playing at the pavillion stage and it was mobbed! But before I ran down, Gurj assured me that was just a really really good RATM coverband. LOL. They slayed. Puffed my lil weed pen and listened along from our balcony of privilege... Got back to the hotel to find Courtney Barnett fans going for it Ate out on the balcony and watched people mill around checking out bands. So much fun! I still think this should be turned into at least a quarterly party! But quickly devolves into karaoke where you can just name a song and the band will look up the chords (or Frank probably already knows them and will just shout out the changes!) Gave me the 2005 feels so hard. So awesome to see them play their whole debut album from start to finish. ...Nightmare of You's 10-year anniversary show! ...and then headed over to the Bowery Ballroom to see a CMJ Showcase for Gurj's work. (I don't remember who this is!) This was my favorite record from 2014 and I listened to it on repeat forever. So happy to see them play live. ...The WAR ON DRUGS perform LOST IN THE DREAM. While walking Maddy, passed these three giving a concert in the garden. ...for an event for Gurj's work where we got to attend a private listening party for THE WEEKND's upcoming album that was about to be released in a few weeks. Nice to hear your voice again! I've missed you! He even did a solo performance at the end! Met up with Gurj and Jared at Webster Hall to see Matt Gorin play a show. Thanks for inviting us, Lauren! ...a short-lived band Amanda played a few shows with The ALL documentary is EVERYTHING! Holy shit, watching this brought back so many good memories from high school listening to ALL & Descendants (FILMAGE ) Fun to be able to watch side-stage... On Saturday afternoon.... Fin! ...and then go out into the crowd! ...I tagged along to watch the Rejects play a quick show! Right below my FiASCO fridge magnet! Oh, (Fiasco pics, 2004-2007 ) Got to see the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs. But the real reason I'd dragged myself out into the rain was because I heard that.... Lots of cool bands played. For the last few songs, members of RVIVR and War On Women... ...came on stage to play. Great show. Later Sunday night, I met up with John at Webster Hall to see... I fucking love Chris Hannah. ...Propagandhi on their Failed States tour. Frank! Congrats, brother! Not-Frank! On Saturday night, I headed down to Tribeca... Late Wednesday night I walked just a few blocks down Ave C to Nu Blu cafe to see Matt play in bass in an awesomely wild jazz-oddesy sickness of a band. Danny lives down the street from me in the East Village. I met him back in October of 2004 when I was living out in San Francisco and a buddy told me I should go see his band. I arrived at the studio and found Danny busy... After a few run throughs with the orchestra... ...to this within minutes of ending.
