The October Roundup

Here are all the photos I took in October 2015 that didn't end up in their own entry.

Thursday, October 1st

Edie hurt her back rough housing with Maddy and I took her to a holistic vet that specializes in treating back injuries without surgery.
We were in the waiting room with the ultimate winners of the Look Like My Dog contest.
Hahaha. So good.
She used a device to give Edie's back a chiropractic adjustment and then used a cold laser on her back to reduce the pain & inflammation.

Edie was hunched and in a lot of pain, but within 2 minutes of the laser treatment...

...she totally relaxed and was happy. It was pretty interesting to watch.

Ten days into my 30 days of drinking an entire gallon of distilled water every day.
Did some data analysis for one of my clients.

Friday, October 2nd

Spent Friday morning reading a book on sacred geometry and using a compass and square to draw a pentagon.
It's something that looks so simple, but it's WAY MORE COMPLICATED that you'd ever imagine. Putting the phi in five.
With fall well on it's way, I spent 30 minutes in front of my light-therapy box trying to stave off my terrible seasonal affective disorder (seems to help!)...
...while reading about the 5 elements in Hinduism.
It was a rainy, chilly morning...
maddy
...so neither of these ladies wanted to go outside. (I set Edie up with a heating pad for her sore back).

Saturday, October 3rd

Spent Saturday writing songs and recording in Garageband!
And watching more videos on the Mandelbrot set.
Mr. Mandelbrot, himself!
maddy
Such a pillow-sitter.

Sunday, October 4th

maddy
Sunday snugglers.
Gave this one some tummy rubs for her tender back.
Decided it was time to trim my Golden Pothos plants...
...which had grown over 8 feet long!
So much trimmage!
Keepin keeping on with all my distilled water drinking! Almost halfway done with 30 gallons!

Monday, October 5th

me
Day 14 of drinking a gallon of distilled water.
Cleaned up my living room a bit.
Late night Tarot readings.
Five of Swords is such a fucker
Smirky bastard
Making notes and drawings of the cards from each of my readings.

Tuesday, October 6th

On Tuesday I met an adorable French Bulldog puppy.
Hand for scale. So tiny!
vin
Vin came over for a hang and sammiches.

Wednesday, October 7th

On Wednesday I took Edie back up to see Dr. Elliot for a follow-up laser treatment. I put the cushion on the floor for her...
...and she saw the laser and settled right down to enjoy it. Haha.
Roses & Beetles
On Wednesday afternoon, the standing desk I'd ordered arrived!
Unpacked this crazy-looking robot arm!
Later that evening after Aikido, I cleared off my desk so I could install it.
Took a while, but I was really happy with the results. Here it is in desk mode. And...
...here's standing mode! Ta-da!

Thursday, October 8th

Morning foam-rolling routine.
Enjoyed catching up on my morning emails at my fancy new desk. Oooh-la-la!
Later that night I went to Radio City Music hall...
ellen
...with Ellen & Amanda to see...
...The WAR ON DRUGS perform LOST IN THE DREAM.
This was my favorite record from 2014 and I listened to it on repeat forever. So happy to see them play live.
Got back to Ave C and found the night crew repaving the street with huge machines.
Inspired after the show, I stayed up late playing guitar...
...and dissecting some catchy pop songs I like. ;)

Friday, October 9th

Got a new mirror for the living room.
Installed!
Seven Squirrel Party!
mom
My mom was up from Florida visiting friends and family in NJ and came into NY to visit. We got a late night dinner at Grape & Grain.

Saturday, October 10th

mom
Loving Edie on Saturday morning. Haha.
dogs ˆ edie ˆ mom
We rode bikes downtown and explored near the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge.
Neato face-recognition sculpture.
Dig it.
We walked over to Chinatown...
mom
...and got Vietnamese for lunch. My mom ordered a wild card off the menu and was pleasantly surprised with some kind of GIANT omelette.
I went with the veggie spring roll vermicelli. My fave.
magic jewelry, mom
Afterwards, I took her over to Magic Jewelry on Centre Street so we could get aura photos.
me
Charging up on that crystal energy while waiting our turn.
magic jewelry, mom
Ready for her photo!
mom
Here's my mom's photo.
And here's mine! Usually I'm bunch of different colors, this was the first time that I was mostly red, orange, yellow.
Side by side comparison. I believe qi gong and all the weird exercises I do are the reason my aura is so much more solid and taller.
me
Back at the apartment, I was excited to take my latest AuraCam photo and compare it to seven other previous photos I'd had take over the last 18 months.
Back in the neighborhood, I took my mom to visit my beloved La Plaza garden.
They had recently installed this new flower sculpture in honor of Adam Purple.
me
Said farewell to my mom around seven...
maddy
...and laid down with this grimple to do some reading.
Late night empanada dinner for the win!

Sunday, October 11th

Sunday afternoon tarot reading.
Spent the rest of the afternoon playing guitar.
Love this guitar so much.
I like how Garageband lets you tune to 432hz instead of 440hz. Which vibrates matter in a much more pleasing way. (Tonoscopes don't lie)
Biked down to Fulton Street and got a...
...crazy-ass veggie ramen burger before meeting up with Penelope.
Went out late night with Goeun.

Monday, October 12th

jane anne, maddy
Saw Jane Anne on Monday and she got to do the double-dachshund cuddle.

Tuesday, October 13th

Late night snackage and GALLON #17.

Wednesday, October 14th

Leaving one of my client's on Wednesday afternoon and a thoughtful New Yorker had posted this note in the elevator trying to help someone get shoes that fit. I <3 NY.
maddy
Hanging with my sleepy buddy in the afternoon.
meredith
Meredith came over for a hang in the evening.

Friday, October 16th

maddy
Friday morning double hound walk!
maddy
Took these two ladies on a long walk over to the pet store on 9th Street...
...where these two hilarious dogs sit behind the counter.
I love how this guy has white body but a brown head.
Friday afternoon Youtubin so hard with Michael Persinger's insane lecture "No More Secrets" about how your brain works by conductance of the earth's magnetic field. FOR REALS. (He is the neuroscientist who invented the GOD HELMET.)
Definitely worth a watch if you are the owner of a human brain.
Later that afternoon, I decided to spruce up my kitchen...
...with some neato contact-paper I'd purchased.
Kitchen sink before.
In-progress.
All done! Looks so much nicer!
jeet
Gurj came over after work. I let the dogs out (mystery solved) to greet her!
jeet, maddy
Synchronized tail-wagging! So excited to see Gurj!
jeet, maddy
We did a little pre-gaming at my place...
beer ˆ best ˆ dogs ˆ edie ˆ lifted ˆ vapor ˆ jeet ˆ maddy
...and then headed over to the Bowery Ballroom to see a CMJ Showcase for Gurj's work. (I don't remember who this is!)
jeet
Late night slices!
maddy
Back at home with my lil duck.

Saturday, October 17th

me
Woke up like dis.
Veggie sandwich lunch!
Not sure if it was real or not, but this Tinder profile made me LOL.
Saturday night I biked over to the LES to see Jon Allen's excellent art show.
His illustrations are so awesome.
Check out this detail of his incredibly fine line work. Insane.
jon allen
The artist himself! Awesome show, Jon! Congrats!
jon allen
Another piece I liked that was drawn on wood.
jon allen
Detail!
grant
I left the gallery and walked over to Grant's apartment. That awkward moment when your friend opens their laptop...
grant
...and there's something on the screen that they don't want you to see (or in this case, immediately take photos of!). Careful, y'all - I'm mighty quick on the draw with my camera! Turns out, it wasn't anything to be embarrassed about...
...just your run-of-the-mill animated porn featuring a girl with a GIANT dick fucking another girl. Grant explained that he only had it on his screen because his other friend was over and wanted to show him something interesting. Ooooookay!
grant, leah
After the smut was safely put away, Leah came over and joined us for a hang.
grant
Grant showed off a recent article he'd had published in Penthouse!
leah
We watched a comedy special.
grant, leah
Conversational highlight of the night came up after I matched with a pretty girl on Tinder who mentioned she was trans in her profile. Grant: "What kind of trans are you down with? Pre or post op? I replied probably post-op. Grant chided me for being so provincial, "Post-op? Psssshhh. That's just a chick dude. You're so vanilla." Haha.

Tuesday, October 20th

Picked up 3 more gallons of water for my ongoing hydration project.
Spent the afternoon recording a new song I'd written called "The Point of No Return" (partially inspired by the idea that once you start watching synthetic bizarro porn, there's no going back.)
maddy
Working on lyrics with my editor. Everyone's a critic.
Got new socks and jeans delivered. Having pants that fit delivered is pretty much one the most impressive things the internet has accomplished.
books
Spent the evening drawing.
Doing my best to figure out how to reproduce this neato design with ruler and compass.
Watched a few episodes of Jane the Virgin in the background.
Mostly because I have a giant tv-crush on Diane Guerrero.
Babe-o-rama.

Thursday, October 22nd

justine d, me
On Thursday morning I biked down to Little Italy to catch up with Justine at the Cafetal Social Club on Mott Street. We were sitting outside chatting at a table when one of the older Italian guys that hangs out there all day spotted a baby rat right near our table. He walked over our way, and then without any warning he beat the rat to death with the broom he was holding and then proudly smiled at us. Hahaha.
We decided to pick up our coffee and finish our catch-up inside. LOL.
Spent the afternoon in my fave garden.
Later that evening I watched Mozart in the Jungle to find the scene they'd filmed on my block the back in September of 2014.
Gael Garcia Bernal in front of the La Plaza gates.
More dewdlin.
Yup.

Friday, October 23rd

miye
It had been almost two years since I'd last seen Miye. We caught up over a pizza.
Later that evening, I had my neighbors from across the hall over for a neighbor party!

Saturday, October 24th

Skeleton groom & bride out for Halloween.
matt
On Saturday night I went to Flatiron to see Matt perform in play.
matt
It was pretty over the top!
matt
Matt was great as always.
caiti, tyson
Afterwards, we met up with Ty & Caiti!
caiti, me
And decided it was time to hit...
...THE KLERB! I don't remember where we went...
...but it was poppin off fo sho.

Sunday, October 25th

Sunday brunch club in the EV with these guys.
Came back home and pulled some cards.
doug
And then spend the late afternoon digging up some funny old photos of Doug as requested by Doug's girlfriend who was working on a surprise slideshow to show at his upcoming 40th birthday!
doug
Some were from college in 96...
doug
...others were from 1998's Letters From Doug
doug
Hi-rez scan of when we went up to Boston to see Archers of Loaf back in 1997!
Busted out my Chord Wheel book to work on a few songs I was looking to spruce up.
matt, tyson
Went out late night to meet up with these handsome gents after a fancy gig they had.
matt, tyson
Cabin all to ourselves.

Farewell back to LA!

Tuesday, October 27th

On Tuesday afternoon I went into Slice to work with their small but growing tech team. Sam presenting some stats on their codebase.
pete chen
The entire Slice (MyPizza) team!

Wednesday, October 28th

Work lunch!
I like vans with messages.
Out of two becomes three. Spent the afternoon playing around my ruler and compass learning about how two overlapping circles (two) allows you to draw a perfect equilateral triangle in the resulting vesica pisces.

Thursday, October 29th

When you are running late for a meeting and you luck out and there's a single Citibike waiting for you!
The dueling spires of church and commerce in Midtown. Happy October 2015!
