Did my work in the morning in front of my light-therapy box which seems to help with my winter blues.
computer
Pretty excited about getting this guy up and running.
computer
Spent Sunday afternoon, turning my new virtual reality machine...
computer
Ta-da! Got the computer up and running...but still had to install the LIDAR motion tracking cubes on the wall.
computer
Getting everything set up!
computer
At the encouragement of his wife, my brother sold me his awesome computer he built to play Virtual Reality! Now that he has two kids he basically had zero time to play it
computer
His dad popped on to say hi also!
computer
Afternoon video call with Max during his lunch.
computer
...then I did some work on this website!
computer
Did some late night lantern-lit interneting via my new cell hotspot.
computer
After Craig headed home, my brother took me upstairs to show me his latest TOY that he was really excited to show me. He custom built this PC with a really high-end video card so that he could run the new virtual reality games that were being released on Steam's online gaming platform.
computer
...but when you looked closely, all of the white circuits were FILLED WITH LIVING ANTS. (Anicka Yi, Life is Cheap
computer
They also had a really wild contempory installation. It was an entire room filled with these giant, intricate circuit-board looking patterns...
computer
...and killed some time before a meeting captioning some photos for this website. (I usually wrote captions at 3 or 4am when I can't sleep...but sometimes I do it before meetings if I'm all caught up on emails).
computer
Went into my messy home office...

Later that afternoon, I attended a reiki class on Zoom that Brian Brunius invited me to.

After presents....

Had an evening taxi ride with a Russian guy who was the self-proclaimed HUMAN COMPUTER! (Sadly, his website is no longer working)
computer
Ok, you can play guitar but I'm gonna watch.
computer
Spent sunday evening...
computer
Did some photo editing on Thursday morning...
computer

computer
...and experimenting with layering guitar tracks in Garage Band.
computer
Started off the month with some consulting work! Nobody likes digging into another person's big complicated spreadsheet like me! Trying to understand what numbers say is more fun to me than Netflix. (PS - sorry about my hobo-desk. I eventually gussy it up with some handsome contact-paper).
computer
Spent my morning coffee working on writing the December 2012 Roundup.
computer
...with this guy!
computer
Later in the afternoon, I had a video chat...

computer
Spent early 2015 writing about photos from 2012 (right around the time Meredith and I split up). Sometimes a few years have to go by until you're ready to look at how you spend the past.
computer
Had a holiday video-chat with this lovely who was out in London with her family. Love you, Gurj!
computer
Here's a sneak peek at the code that lets your light-detector detect different colors of light!
computer
On Wednesday morning I worked on the September 2012 Roundup. (See I'm always about 2.5 years late in posting these pics!)
computer
...had to try to fill out an OKR form (objectives and key results) for one of my employers.
computer
After finishing work, I wrote some music!
computer
First you've got to go through the hardware and find all the correct pieces for the project you want...
computer
...it really is just like really complicated Legos.
computer
Stayed up late into the night trying out the different projects in the Arduino book...
computer
Wiring up three different LED lights...
computer
...then you spend time wiring them into the "bread board." (Let's you easily build a circuit by just plugging them into the board without having to solder all the connections.)
computer
With the circuit built and the code uploaded, it's time to TEST THE BUILD!
computer
...and two different buttons.
computer
After finishing the hardware portion, you open the Arduino code editor and write code that you can upload to the computer-controller.
computer
Got my Arduino starter kit in the mail on Wednesday.
computer
Monday morning! Last half-week of work with my client before taking off the rest of the year!
computer
...trying to take one of my little songs and record a multi-track version in Garageband.

computer
Friday morning work calls from home.
computer
Having just been giving some magic chocolates by a friend, I spent the morning stretching and listening to the very excellent Terence Mckenna lecture on psychedelics from 1994.
computer
Spent the morning putting together a timeline for all the new things one of my clients wanted to build.

Showed Grant how to plug the guitar into GarageBand and tried my best to prod him into writing songs again.
computer
Later that evening, I got an Apogee JAM adapter that lets you jack your guitar's audio signal into your computer. I spent the rest of the night playing around with GarageBand.
computer
Then spent the rest of the afternoon helping a start-up I advise build a model that takes all their assumptions into consideration and helps them understand how the relationship between all the variables in their business and how they related to the return (or lack of return!) generated by their investment. Modeling this all out beforehand helps companies identify what needs to be true in order to be successful. (Nerd stuff!)

Work-plug: If your company employs developers, I'd love to help you create a similar map that you can use to understand how to best invest their time and effort in order to grow the business. (Flux Capacity)
computer
I looked up and couldn't help but notice a similarity to the Metatron's Cube I made in string a few days prior.
computer
Did some work in the afternoon.
computer
Launched a temporary version using wordpress...before eventually opting to use Squarespace. The site I built with their CMS is way nicer.
computer
After almost two years of consulting full-time as Flux Capacity, I finally had worked with enough clients to put together a decent-looking clients page. Photoshop drop-shadow, kapow!
computer
Had a pretty slow day lazing around the island. Stopped at an internet cafe and checked my email for the first time in a few days.

I didn't have any clients over the holidays, so I spent some time working on this site!
computer
We were playing a game where you try to focus your attention single-pointedly, and it makes a disco ball float up into the air. The goal is to keep the ball floating for as long and as "high" into the air as you can. Our mom does yoga quite a bit and has been interested in mindfulness for years, but we were both surprised at how good she was at this game!
computer
...where it interprets your brainwaves and graphs them as they relate to "attention" and "relaxation", the two simultaneous poles of mindfulness meditation.
computer
This headset was the second brain-computer interface I purchased from NeuroSky. They miniaturized and improved this new headset quite a bit from their first generation product that I purchased back in January of 2011

In addition to the Foursquare integration, I had also been working with TwoToasters as the client-side product manager for Yipit's very first mobile app!

ModKit's really neato drag-and-drop microcontroller programming language.
