The September Roundup

Here are all the photos I took in September 2012 that didn't end up in their own entry.

Saturday, September 1st

Saturday was our third wedding anniversary . Mer and I were both feeling a really lost in our lives and in the midst of trying to decide if we should stay married.
me, meredith
We decided to try to put all of our troubles aside for the day and head out into NYC to do something new and fun. We decided to walk north...
...up to the East River Ferry station at 34th Street...
...and take the ferry over to check out Governor's Island.
meredith
Passing by a huge construction site on the water's edge.
House music is Alive (inside of this Governor's Island Porta-Potty)!
Governor's Island was sort of a bust. Not much to do and a lot of waiting to catch the ferry back home.
The Battery Maritime Building ferry terminal is really cool, though. Very 19th century!
maddy
Black socks, white shoes. Oh yeah. Getting ready to take the weasel for a walk.
Later that afternoon, I bought a new Apple wireless router and got it set up.
Cleaned the apartment and burned a bunch of my favorite smoky-good incense.
Robert Plant (my very first plant ever!) is settling into his new corner nicely!
We had Thai for dinner and talked about our lives.

Sunday, September 2nd

maddy, piper
Second day of Memorial Day Weekend. Mer went to the Zoo with her nephews, I took Maddy & Piper to the dog park...
...then met up with Vin and we walked down to the Angelica to see The Queen of Versailles.. Great movie. If you cannot appreciate the abundance you already have in your life, more of anything won't make you any happier.
Pretty window flowers on the walk home.

Monday, September 3rd

Spent Labor Day doing some much needed cleaning. Mopped our dusty floors...
...steam vacuumed our smelly carpets.
ellen
Ellen came over in the evening...
...and we went for a run together!
Usually I take a photo of the TV so I remember what I was watching but I have no idea what this is!

Wednesday, September 5th

matt
Met up with Matt early on Wednesday evening for some frisbee in the park.

Thursday, September 6th

Back in September I was thinking about opening a small freelancers office somewhere in the East Village and was snapping a lot of pictures of office spaces I liked.
Rule of thumb for East Village massage places, the worse the decor, the better the massage. Tiger AND Leopard sheer-curtains means you're in for the massage of a lifetime!
grant
Went for a run with Grant (and the managed to photograph him sneezing!).

Saturday, September 8th

First day that had a tiny bit of fall chill in the air.
The handmade gates to one of the community gardens casting lovely shadows on the sidewalk.
caiti, matt
Met up with these two for lunch on St. Marks.
Spent the afternoon reading on the shaded benches...
...in the La Plaza Cultural garden.
kai
Later that night we went to a show at Cake Shop to see Kai play guitar in his buddy's band.
kai
Great show!
vin
After the show, Vin and I went to some crazy fashion week party at the Tribeca Grand. We ended up back at Rosario's for our second slice of the night with Nina & Stephanie who were in town visiting from Bali!

Sunday, September 9th

Went for a run late in the afternoon on Sunday.
Down to the Manhattan Bridge and back.
maddy
Took this little Tugger to the park.
Leigh invited me to a Fashion Week party so I put on my fancy, white "fashion" shoes. Haha.
This was the scene outside! Ooof! I was just about to turn around and go home when Leigh spotted me and whisked me inside!
The party was to celebrate Opening Ceremony's 10 year anniversary.
geordon, leigh
There were lasers and everything!
caiti, jon danovic, kai, matt, meredith, scott c, tyson
Later in the night I went over to Caiti's to meet up with John, Scott and Ty who'd just arrived in town.

Crosstown cab to a hotel party on Crosby.
jon danovic, matt, me, scott c, tyson
No hotel party can withstand a 3am manvasion like this.
jon danovic, tyson
We retired to the Allen Street lounge.

Wednesday, September 12th

My bike was stolen on Sunday night! After 7 years of trusty service, it finally got nabbed. On Wednesday night, I got a new bike. (Note from Dec 2014: Still riding this Jamis Coda Sport ~50 miles a week and very happy with it!)

Thursday, September 13th

leigh
Thursday was my last day in NYC before my trip to Red Rocks, Colorado with Gurj and Quinn. I ran a bunch of errands. Had a wig party at Leigh's. Haha.
me
I'm like a blonde Lloyd Christmas.

grant
Late lunch with Grant at Sidewalk.
meredith
Later that night, Meredith and I celebrated our belated anniversary with Kajitsu's vegetarian tasting menu.
Put a fancy shirt on and everything.
The food was really interesting and varied.
Onion soup.
Pot baked mushrooms, mashed potatoes and vegetable croquettes.
Chilled udon and daikon.
Steamed rice & veggies with nori.
Orange jelly & lotus nut-cake for dessert. Wow.
Dessert after the dessert?

Wednesday, September 19th

Wednesday was my first day back in NYC after my awesome trip to Red Rocks with Gurj & Quinn. Had an empty apartment and played a bunch of Borderlands 2.
jared
Later in the afternoon, I met up with Jared...
...and we biked down the east side of Manhattan, rounded the tip of Manhattan...
...and then biked up to 79th Street on the West Side.
jared
After working up an appetite...
...we stopped and got food and beers on the water.
Time to bike back home.
Blue skies, pink twilight clouds and a fingernail moon over the East Village rooftops.
Closeup.

Thursday, September 20th

Looks like someone helped Dan Smith with a brand new flyer!
Went to see Samsara at the Landmark on Thursday evening.

Friday, September 21st

Breakups are really difficult to go through. At the advice of a friend, I took Friday off of work...
...took the subway up to Washington Heights...
...and had kinesiology session with Jeffrey Main. It really helped me let go of a lot of emotional tension that I was holding in my body.
If you're doing through a tough time in your life, I highly recommend getting in touch with him!
After my session, I headed back home to get packed to go out on tour with the All-American Rejects! Happy September, 2012!

We don't know each other Brian, but I appreciate your honesty in talking simply about a tough time. You and Meredith's expressions during that dinner spoke volumes. Peace, brother.
