It also included this OTHER handout with a photo of the guy who hand-made the DEVICE showing off how to best position the wet-sponge electrodes in order to maximize Savant Learning, the obvious choice for the acceleration of touch-typing in both of our books.
The hand-made device came along with this very sophisticated-looking diagram to show you where to place the electrodes of the device on your scalp depending on the kind of effects you are looking to stimulate in your brain.
After grabbing lunch, Kim spotted one of the creepy-ass-fuck Dan Perino "looking for a girlfriend" flyers that had just gone up all around the neighborhood. (Here's a NY Mag article on this over a year later. 158???)
I went back into the thrift store where I'd purchased my magic shirt, and in the adjacent store, there was a lot of Buddhist art. Turns out the owner was a practicing Buddhist and we shared our stories about Padmasambhava synchronicity. He gave me a bunch of brochures for their New York state meditation center...
I take strange comfort in the flyers people hang in the neighborhood to give others a chance to pay respects at a wake. I also really like the photo that they chose to commemorate Walter with.
Someone puts up these flyers in my neighborhood. They are always worth deciphering:
"If you love someone kill your cell phone and pick up a sketch notebook or Scotch on the rocks. Save your eyesite make friends not enemies. Save wild life. Throw a party in the human jungle."
Leigh is the MASTER of photoshopped party invites! Here's her Martha-Stewart-cooking-an-Edie-turkey Thanksgiving Invite! Hahaha. They get better every year!
...flyers to hang up in Rockaway that afternoon! Now that I'd started working for myself and didn't have to go into an office every day, we'd decided to try to rent a beach house for the month of August!
On Wednesday me and the Pictimonial team hit the streets of NYC with flyers trying to find some local businesses willing to beta-test our app and give us feedback!
The email and flyer she sent around explained that she would be having a circus sideshow-themed party and would be playing the ringmaster and introducing all of the acts!
Wednesday morning was the first day any of the "Google Phones" became available! I got up a little early and headed to the T-Mobile store on Broadway with the hopes that I could score one on my way to work. I expected pandemonium, but I got there 5 minutes after the store opened and was only the FIFTH person that showed up.
Hahaha. There was a flier up advertising some party the MisShapes were DJing at and somebody totally took the time to go out of their way and write the word "DOUCHE" with an arrow pointing to Geordon's name. It made Sarah sad. But me, I'm a real sucker for passive aggressive acts that are done with flair! You won me over with your pink pen, dear flier vandal!
On Sunday afternoon Meredith and I headed to Tompkins Square Park to watch Edie walk in the the dog costume parade wearing the school bus outfit that Meredith made for her!
On Thursday night I went to some party with Nina. We left and when we were walking up the Bowery, we saw the hands-down most ridiculous "club flyers" that were left on all the car windshields.
This is the crazy-ass invite that I spent hours putting together. I went through thousands of pictures trying to find the weirdest/most embarrassing photos of my friends and then spent hours cutting them out in Photoshop and superimposing them onto the Golden Gate Bridge. It was totally worth it, though. Every time I look at it, I still laugh.
Then later that night at Lit I watched this insane man rip up flyers that Leigh had placed on the table and make little prop-up figures that he then preceeded to move around the table in some elaborate fashion. We were going to ask him what he was doing, but we were scared. Very, very scared.
For whatever reason, we decided to scan pictures from the textbook from the German class that Dzija was taking. Here's the flier that Dzija designed...
My soopafresh invite complete with map (included to help attract naive freshman who're willing to pay $5+ to someone willing to provide them with beer).
