The October Roundup

Here are all the photos I took in October that didn't end up in their own entry!

Wednesday, October 1st

On Wednesday night, Meredith and I went out with her parents to celebrate Mr. Silverman's birthday! Happy Birthday, Chuck!

Wednesday, October 8th

On Wednesday evening, a whole bunch of us went to a Japanese restaurant near Amanda's place in the financial district. Her friends John and Lori had recently been deep sea fishing and the chef at the restaurant was willing to take their fresh catch and turn it into dinner!

Scott is so hungry. Check out Amanda's jade kimono! Oh, shit!

Feast time!
Us vegetarians got tofu tempura.

Delicious!

On Saturday night we stopped by Circa Now, Lisa's store in the East Village....
pauly
...Pauly struck casually handsome poses on the day bed.

I tried on sunglasses that made me look like Terry Richardson.

Later that night we headed over to the Sly Fox for some quiet Saturday night action!

I'll bet that Lisa hates this picture, but I think it's great.
We ended up closing out the Sly Fox and heading back to our apartment for some Saturday night after hours. 4:25am. We keep the same hours as our rats. Eeek!

Saturday night comradery.

Meredith helped Pauly with something on the computer.

Then Meredith and Lisa spent a whole bunch of time styling the hair of a doll that they purchased at our corner bodega when we stopped for treats and snacks on the way home.

I like that you can tell that Meredith is totally overtired in this photo by the silly expression she's making when laughing.

Bald on top with silky payot!
Ta-da! Completely cue-ball bald on top with a long and shiny, coiffed pony tail down the right side is totally going to be the hottest look for Spring of 2009.
Lisa and Pauly left in the wee hours of the morning. Right after their departure, we surveyed our living room table and laughed. Jesus.
Come on Barbie, let's go party.

Monday, October 20th

Eight years of the Bush Administration were coming to an end and I wanted to make sure I was prepared for anything! Manhattan is an island and if for any reason there was going to be a food shortage, I wanted to make sure we had plenty of calories on hand. So I ordered 3 cases of MayDay Emergency Food Rations!
Mmmmmm! Tastes like waterproof! Each bar is 3600 calories!
Enough calories for two people to carry on the go to last 4 months!

catrinel, meredith
On Saturday night, Catrinel came over for dinner. For dessert, we decided to open up one of the MayDay Emergency Food Ration bars to see what it tasted like! (Verdict: Like a really dry, dense, crumbly lemon tart mixed with spackle.)

Wednesday, October 22nd

Wednesday morning was the first day any of the "Google Phones" became available! I got up a little early and headed to the T-Mobile store on Broadway with the hopes that I could score one on my way to work. I expected pandemonium, but I got there 5 minutes after the store opened and was only the FIFTH person that showed up.
It's only been 2 years, but it already seems quaint.
But back then, a slide out keyboard like this was THE FUCKING FUTURE!
There weren't really any apps yet so at the time, this was kind of it.
As soon as I got home that night, I downloaded the Android SDK and tried to write a Notepad application. I had marginal success, but gave up like 2 days later when the Android App market was flooded with like 200 version of Notepad apps.
My computer, which I'd purchased in 2002 and had been steadily upgrading for six years, finally met its match when I tried to run the Eclipse editor for Java. Every time I tried to compile, it would take like 10 minutes. Guess it's finally time for a new computer. *Sniffle*

Wednesday, October 29th

On Wednesday night I went to Cherry Tavern...

...and had drink with this fucking guy! Happy October 2008!
