Scott and Amanda did a duet. Scott is a karaoke team player! When Amanda was singing, he was totally busting out all kinds of crazy dance moves along with her lyrics.
...in the back of a cab! For those of you who don't live in NYC, this is pretty hard to pull off. The strategy usually consists of three people hailing a cab while a fourth person hangs back from the group. After the cab has pulled over, the group of three distract the driver while the fourth ducks down, and climbs in the back ninja style!
We got out of the cab on 3rd St and got ready to perform another difficult photo stunt...
Did you know that Sing Sing is open until 5am on Fridays? We just kept on rocking (and drinking - let's hear it for BYOB!) until they told us we had to leave. Here's our satisfied karaoke crew settling the tab at 5:50am! Happy Birthday, Scott!
Scott doing some hooping. Unbeknownst to all the party guests, Siege had cut a hole into the top of the projection screen and hidden a video camera. If you look at his right hand you'll see he's holding the remote control he was using to activate the camera and record people hula hooping from the vantage point of the screen! SNEAKY!
We got off the A train at Canal Street and walked across town to Vegetarian Dim Sum House. This place is incredible. Even if you're not a vegetarian, I encourage you to check it out. (C'mon, it's not like you even know what's usually in them anyway, right?)
Scott was wearing little soccer shorts with no lining which meant that on the way back he kept unknowingly subjecting horrified subway passengers to epicly sweet peek-a-boo ball shots like these.
I was trying to take a sneaky photo so I could just email it to him later that night, but we all started laughing hysterically and he figured out what we were up to. (Also: A guy who reads this site was in the subway car with us and recognized us as we laughed about trying to take sneaky pics of our friend's bean bag! Hahaha).
....obligatory photos of everyone jumping at the beach! Yay! Take One: Gurj, Scott and Amanda have amazing form in this pic. Sarah, however, failed to achieve lift off.
July 26th is Amanda's birthday (and Leigh's too!). On Saturday morning, I rode my bike down to Battery Park to meet up with the birthday girl for a birthday bike ride up the West Side!
Since you're at San Loco at 3:55am and there's still 5 minutes left before they stop selling alcohol why not just also order a couple of shots of tequila while you're waiting for your tacos, right?
Then a couple songs later, Meredith, KT and Siege joined the party and we all nerded out together. Just cuz you're getting married doesn't mean you gotta grow up or anything! Thanks to everyone for keeping the surprise a secret and for coming out to help me surprise Meredith! It meant so much to have so many people we love be there to share that huge moment in our lives!
Indoor grilling in June in a NYC-sized apartment = 1,000 degrees Farenheit. Meredith was like "It's so hot in here, let's go up on to the roof" and everyone had to keep making up excuses about why we were staying in the roasting-hot apartment.
At this point, the entire restaurant was watching our group with a mix of both interest in horror. So when it was finally my turn to go, Scott decided to "give 'em something to talk about" and...
At first we didn't think doing body shots would be that big of a deal. Everyone's done them before right? But what you forget to realize is that usually when anyone does a body shot - it's usually in the back of some dark, shitty crowded bar and you're wasted and everyone is cheering you on. Doing body shots in the middle of a TACO JOINT that people are having lunch at, in the middle of the afternoon, while being STONE-COLD SOBER brings a whole new level of ass-cringing embarrassment to an already embarrassing endeavor!
"Team member doing something dirty to the owner of Urban Rustic (Luis)." 25 POINTS! Hahah. I love how the "something dirty" we came up with was to have Amanda and Scott "peek" up his apron while he's on a slider ladder. (PS - is that the lead singer of Soul Asylum in the background?)
