Birthday gang! ( Oh man, I'm writing this 4.5 years later in late December of 2021 in the midst of the Omicron wave of covid and seeing all these people I love in one place makes me long for this to all be over and to be in a room with so many people I love again.)
Sarah & Ben explained they'd be having a Quaker ceremony. They stood up in front of all the guests and explained that if anyone would like to speak, to stand up. After ten minutes of giving people the opportunity to speak, they exchanged vows...
Wish! (PS - If you look at Sarah's dress you'll notice that I must've accidentally used Cat's wish. Sorry about that, Sar.) (PPS - I love the fact that she's blowing out two haphazardly-placed votive candles Hahah.)
Then a couple songs later, Meredith, KT and Siege joined the party and we all nerded out together. Just cuz you're getting married doesn't mean you gotta grow up or anything! Thanks to everyone for keeping the surprise a secret and for coming out to help me surprise Meredith! It meant so much to have so many people we love be there to share that huge moment in our lives!
It's pretty fun. Here's a breakdown of how it works from the game's very own Wikipedia entry:
"The goal for each player is to get their team to say the word or word phrase displayed in the disc. One member of a team starts the timer and tries to get his or her team to guess the displayed word or phrase. A clue-giver can make any physical gesture and give almost any verbal clue, but may not say a word that rhymes with any of the words, give the first letter of a word, say the number of syllables, or say part of any word in the clue (e.g., "worry" for "worry wart"). When the team guesses correctly, the other team takes its turn. Play continues until the timer runs out. The team not holding the disc when time runs out scores a point. They also have one chance to guess the word or phrase, with team members allowed to confer; a correct answer earns a bonus point. The first team to score seven points wins."
...so a bunch of us piled into the elevator and decided to walk a couple more blocks downtown to check out some other PR-event kind of party that someone else knew about.
