...Meredith's over-sized engagement ring. I had to custom order it in her size (because she has teeny tiny fingers) but the custom ring didn't arrive in time so I had to propose with a ring that only fit on Meredith's thumb! Hahaha.
I hadn't not had a day job in a while, so it was nice to have a chance to catch up with the rest of the kids who have somehow figured out to avoid the nine-to-five chains. On Wednesday morning, Posh came over and we played Xbox until early afternoon.
TWO TURKEYS! Look at his face! This photo makes me laugh every time I see it. (I'm going to do a little foreshadowing here and tell you that Posh Tony's athletic prowess on that blond flooring was getting a certain member of our little group all worked up!)
Birthday friends at the scoring console! Also: Sean looks like a homeless man in this photo. ALSO: I wonder why Ellen is leaning away from him like that. It's almost like she's dodging a bullet or something. ZING!
Three words: RAW. ANIMAL. POWER. So it's a couple of frames later, and Posh has gotten himself another two strikes in a row and he's on the cusp of a SECOND TURKEY IN THE SAME GAME! I told him he looked a little nervous. And Posh Tony, well Posh Tony just smiled, slowly strolled up to the line and...
In bowling, if you get three strikes in a row, it's called a turkey. It's exciting because it's a pretty difficult thing to do (I mean, after you get two strikes in a row, the pressure mounts because everyone is watching and wondering, WILL HE BE ABLE TO PULL IT OFF?). Posh stepped up to the lane and...
You may not know this (in fact, why would you?), but in addition to being a singer/songwriter , small business entrepreneur and the only white man who can convincingly impersonate JB Smoove, Antony "Posh Tony" Ellis is also an EXCELLENT bowler. Here is getting ready to "roll" for the first time. (He got a strike).
On Friday afternoon Posh Tony called me and told me that he and Adam were shooting a new video for Antony's band for a song called Alice. When I asked what the video was about, he told me that they were going around to different places, putting the song on a boombox and having random strangers dance to it. I told them to pack up their camera and come to my work and that I'd get a bunch of my co-workers to dance for them.
...we walked up to 2nd on 2nd so that we could continue singing karaoke! Check out our posse totally digging into the books and furiously jotting down songs. Hahaha.
We ended up leaving Winnie's because they didn't have that many songs that we knew. Which I guess can be equally attributed to the fact that half the songs are in Mandarin and that...
After filling our gullets with treats and booze, someone realized that we were just a few short blocks away from Winnie's! Which is the best karaoke bar in Chinatown (where all the songs are still on LASER DISC)! Check out the rocking troupe we had. Hahaha.
Hahaha. After we finished our snack, we walked around the boardwalk for a while and then decided to call it a day. There weren't many other bands playing that we were interested in seeing...er, and we both had stomachaches from eating greasy boardwalk food. Hahah.
On Saturday I met up with Posh Tony and we headed out to Coney Island for the Siren Music Festival. Here's Posh on the boardwalk with fellow musician Jack.
Later that night a whole bunch of people came over to hang and play Cranium! L to R: Josh, Posh, Niki, Amanda, Quinn, Faran, Rosie, Murdo and Ellen with her arms full of dogs!
Or at least he tried to play Guitar Hero. Antony joins Brandon in the "I'm a real guitar player who can't, for the life of me, figure out how to play a fake guitar that only has five buttons" Hall of Shame.
...and then hopped in our rental and headed back to NYC! Here's a picture of Grant, Posh T and Meredith at a rest stop somewhere in the swamps of New Jersey! Congrats Emma & Rob! Thanks so much for having us!
Here's Grant and Posh Tony two hours later at the welcome dinner. Can't you tell how thrilled Grant was to be sharing a table with Posh T? Every time Grant smiled it looked like his face was going to break. Hahaha.
Antony Ellis got in on our rental car action and rode down from NYC to Cape May with us. Here's Grant in his free room pretending to be excited about having to spend the entire weekend with Posh Tony (aka - Grant's ARCH NEMESIS!).
HAHAHAHAHA! Here's a quick photo collage I made to reiterate just how expertly Grant managed to capture Posh Tony's likeness when he angrily scribbled this character of him a few months ago. (Keep in mind, Tony wasn't even around when Grant drew this!)
Posh Tony showed up at midnight (read: two hours late) and then tried to act all shocked and indignant that he'd missed the entire thing. Then after we realized that it was early and that we were already IN Chinatown, we did the only sensible thing...
Then I ran into Posh Tony and some cute (Australian?) girl he was with. (By the way, I don't know if you can tell from this photo, but Posh Tony looks EXACTLY like a "white version" of JB Smoove, the black dude who plays Leon on the new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Hahahahah.)
On Monday night I went out drinking with Posh Tony and we ended up shooting pool at Max Fish (where we almost got beat to death with a pool cue because of Posh Tony's inability to shut-the-fuck-up when he's drunk).
Towards the end of the night, I reached into my pocket to get something and realized I was still carrying around the drawing that Grant did of Posh Tony from last month (because every time I was feeling a little down, I'd pull it out and look at it). I got Tony pose with it again to try to gauge the likeness. Hahahaha.
