The May Roundup: Part One

Here are all the photos I took in the first half of May that didn't make it into their very own entry.

Thursday, May 1st

On Thursday night, Meredith and I went out to Williamsburg for movie night at Siege and KT's. If you like zombie movies and/or surreal comedy, I highly recommend the movie Fido.

Siege had recently bought a new projector and we got to enjoy the movie in near-cinematic-screen size!

Saturday, May 3rd

After lunch on Saturday, Meredith and I were walking home and we decided to pop into our local pet store and look at the animals. We were in the back looking at the lizards and we found a tank that had three lizards (all skinks) in it. Two of the skinks were big and colorful, the other skink was smaller and less colorful. Right as we were standing there watching them, one of the big skinks runs all the way across the cage and starts attacking the small skink!

At first we thought they were just play-fighting, but then the big skink starting swallowing his friend whole! It was totally shocking. So shocking that I didn't even think to take my camera out until we was half-finished eating him and then I snapped this picture

The thing wriggled like that for almost 2 minutes before finally running out of juice. A few minutes later, a pet-store employee walked by and we told what we'd witnessed and showed him the video and he was like "Oh, man. I gotta show this to my boss. I keep telling him this is why nobody but me should be allowed to do the lizards! You can't put a little guy like that in with the skinks! What was he thinking?" Anyway, it was pretty crazy. Put Discovery in HD to shame!

meredith — Later, we enjoyed the windy afternoon admiring the view our affords of the East River. Here's Meredith showing off the two "dinosaur sew-on patches" she'd recently purchased.

ellen, faran, quinn — Later that night, we had a dinner with Quinn, Faran and Ellen.

me, meredith — Yep, that's about right.

Monday, May 5th

posh tony — On Monday night we went out to Orchard Bar. Posh Tony was there!

meredith — Meredith's got moves. What's got two thumbs and "white man's overbite?"

Thursday, May 8th

mandy o, meredith — On Thursday night I met up with Meredith and Mandy who were both celebrating completing ITP's graduate program at NYU.

mandy o, meredith — Mer, Mandy and another ITPer.

meredith — Mer got a little over zealous with the celebratin' and had to take a lil' T.O. on the elevator ride home.

meredith — Gradulamated and all growsed up.

Saturday, May 10th

chuck, meredith — Despite getting wasted the previous evening, Meredith rallied like a champ and got up bright and early to meet her parents...

hatti, meredith — ...and a bunch of her ITP friends for brunch.

scott m, sophia l — A little after midnight that evening, I went over to Leigh's for some pre-game cocktails. Sophia and Scott were there, you know, drying their hairdos.

leigh — Leigh was sitting in the window sill...

leigh — ...you know, using the fan to practice whipping her hair around in the wind dramatically.

leigh, mike doyle — Mike Doyle was in town visiting from San Francisco! We all went out to some party that was in the bar right next door to Leigh's apt!

mike doyle — After, we went back to Leigh's, played Rockband and made ugly faces. Hahaha. Here's Mike's.

leigh — Hahaha.

Ugly face! They trick is to get your two eyes to go in slightly different directions. Wonky eye!

leigh — Woodland Creature!

mike doyle — Late, late, late night, we went to Odessa and got grill cheeses (Mike put BACON on his!), french fries, pierogies and latkes! Delicious!

Sunday, May 11th

On Sunday afternoon I took an NJ Transit train out...

...out to the Rahwah stop.

mom — Went to my Aunt Elaine and Uncle Wayne's house for my grandpa's 85th birthday. Here's my mom having some dinner. After we finished eating...

grandpa, lindsey — ...it was time for the cake! Happy 85th, Grandpa!

Wednesday, May 14th

Some days are action packed. Other days...

meredith — ...not so much.

Friday, May 16th

emily — On Friday night I went up to the Upper West Side to go to a house party at Emily and Tim's apartment! Here's Emily all excited to show me their place!

emily, rachael — Awwww! Emily and Rachael!

tim — Emily's boyfriend (now husband!) Tim loved him some rum and fired up Guitar Hero! Wooooo!

rachael — Around 1am, the party started moving into "full effect." (As clearly evidenced by this picture of Rachael enjoying some smoked Italian meat and a glass of "white zinf" on the kitchen floor. Yes!)

simon — Simon was there too!

tim — Back in the living room, everyone's sore fingers made the executive decision that it was time for a game change! Wii Tennis! I'm pretty sure it was Emily who was manning my camera, because suddenly the photos go from action shots of us playing Wii Tennis...

tim — ...to straight-up ASS shots of Tim playing Wii Tennis.

tim — "Honey! Are you taking pictures of my ass?" Tim asked with sweetly-shy smile on his face.

Here are more pictures I'm posting in my efforts to help people think rats are less terrible! Sure, they're vermin-y, but there also pretty adorable. Team drinking!

World's tiniest infestation!

This photo makes me equally parts happy and disgusted. Look how happy they are to be all smashed into that box together. Hahaha.
