a thing in 126 photos lake Pretty great, off-site! Thanks for having me along, Voray! David's friend let us stay at their excellent lakehouse. We had a nice afternoon work session... Sunset on the lake! ...for a swim! Not a bad lil work day. After we wrapped things up, we grabbed the boat and hit the lake to enjoy some sunshine! ...with a lovely view of the lake! All smiles. Happy to be along for the maiden voyage. Congrats on the new boat, Jared! ...was priceless. ;) The look on Jared's face as he drove his new boat on the lake for the first time... After stopping for a bite to eat, I decided to head back to the Thruway for the three-hour drive home! One last view of Lake Rangley before heading back down the mountain. About 90 minutes south of the diner, I saw signs for the Mayahana Buddhist Temple and decided to take a detour to check it out. Enjoys hiking so much! Hung out by the water's edge. ...South Lake! So nice to just randomly fine lovely places you didn't mean to. See that rock out there in the water? Such exploring! We walked all the way around and out onto it! ...of the gorgeous Seneca Lake, the largest and deepest of the NY Fingerlakes. The promised land. One last snap of the bright blue water... Across the other side of the lake. Moving out. I really liked these two-tone blue and green pine trees that dotted the lake. Not a bad campsite view! Somehow we'd gotten separated from Matt, who was the only person who knew where the campsite was! We waited out the rain for ten minutes nervously laughing about not being able to find Matt!
On our climb down, I let my backpack slip down the steep hill and one of the huge pint-sized beer cans that was stored in my backpack exploded because it got punctured by a rock! (Luckily, the malty beer-soakage to our tent was minimal!) View of the glacier melt feeding the lake. We ditched the trail and made our own way around the lake. Walked down to the water's edge, which was difficult to find due to the clarity of the water! Grant had told me in advance that we were going to go camping in an awesome location, but this was beyond all of my expectations! I made it out there, JUST barely! Realizing that Matt had made something tricky look easy. Matt made it out safely without problem! Not necessarily the hardest feat, but one with icy-cold, hiking-with-water-sodden-clothes consequences! ...walk out onto this log without falling in. We stopped for a snack... We stopped for a snack and a rest and to enjoy the cerulean-blue water... About 90 minutes into our hike, we reached to second glacial lake. Twenty minutes into our hike, we made it to the first of three glacial lakes. Later that afternoon, we went for a walk around the island and brought a frisbee along so that we could... Noah in paddle rack jail. Handsome red beak. Rock seagull. Not a bad way to spend a Friday. Buddy flotilla. About halfway around the island, Sarah spotted us and brought us beers! Meredith came out to join us! ...and we headed out to paddle our way around the island. ...met up with Grant... Later that morning, I grabbed a kayak... I was excited to get outside and see... The view of the lake from our cabin window. We set our bikes by the lake and got our frisbee on! ...there was a pond... The bus ride from Whistler to Vancouver is so beautiful. You drive by miles and miles of what I thought were "lakes and mountains." Grant just emailed me to tell me that I was impressed by the Howe Sound . The sound is a "network of fjords ; "long, narrow inlets with steep sides or cliffs, created in a valley carved by glacial activity." Then a little ways down the road was a much larger lake, Danau Buyan. Here's us doing our best to not squint. Way up in the mountains, we came across Danau Tamblingan, an emerald-green lake ringed by clouds. One last photo of us in our nice clothes before heading back to the hotel to change. Pretty, right? After we'd finished eating, Mer and I took a quick walk around the shore and admired the view. A little past 4pm, we found a nice restaurant that had a deck overlooking the lake. JoAnn and Chuck. On the drive back, we decided to find somewhere on the lake to have lunch! We got married in a gazebo on the hill next to the mansion overlooking the lake. After walking along the path next to the lake's shore for a couple of minutes... ...Lake Tahoe in all it's glory. Lake Tahoe is incredible close up. I've never seen a lake with such bright blue water. Wow. And the views of Lake Tahoe from higher up in the surrounding mountains are spectacular. The weather was perfect! ...and we set out to drive around Lake Tahoe to a park called Sugar Pine Point State Park. Afterwards, they went down to one of the beaches on the lake. While I slept, Meredith took my camera and went on some kind of sight-seeing adventure with our parents. Gondola ride? ...and it fills the horizon; ringed with mountains on the far shore. Lake Tahoe is breathtakingly beautiful. The road winds down from the mountains... We caught our first glimpse of Lake Tahoe a little bit past 3:30. The place has a golf course so there are these pretty lakes/water hazards everywhere. And big-ass birds. I'm sure if you live in Florida seeing this is no big whoop... The Sacred Lake of Amun-Re. HE IS RISEN! Hahahahahaha. (Any other Sopranos super-fans out there remember Janice's narcoleptic boyfried Aaron who used to proselytize by asking people whether or not they had "heard the news?" Or is it just me that's a huge dork?).
After wandering around the grounds for a while taking in the sights... Jess's dock at night. Insane. *splash*
