...in order to Ride Jetskis in the East River for the THIRD TIME. LOL.

Every summer, my family would drive up to Bow Lake in New Hampshire and spend a week at my Uncle Steven & Aunt Kathy's lakehouse on Beech Island! Here's a shot of Brian Crowell getting ready to waterskii!
dock
On Thursday afternoon, I went over to Chris' house and we paddled canoes out the inlet towards the sea. About 45 minutes after we left, a HUGE storm rolled in, and we had to paddle back in a hurry against a strong current that came out of nowhere. My arms were sore for DAYS. Hahaha.

This was one of the easiest....

...reading and enjoying my last day of tolerable outside weather for the next few months.
dock
Made another dog friend. Aw, beardy!
dock
Spent the rest of the evening out of my hotel's dock...

We made it back to Caye Caulker a little after 6pm....
dock
After the second dive our boat docked so we could explore the nearby island of Half Moon Caye
dock
Ready to head out exploring.
dock
Made it to the dive center at 530am the next morning and the weather had cleared up enough for the boat to head out to the dive site.
dock
Nice little Tuesday.
dock
...slowly change colors...
dock
I watched the sunrise and the sky...
dock
Five seconds after the predicted 6:26am sunrise, the sun made its appearance over the horizon.
dock
6:20am.
dock
I sat there scratching my temporary-dog's ears watching the colors change.
dock
Dog friend number two. Nice to sit on the dock with these guys and feel at home on the earth.
dock
Just before 6am and the sky started to lighten.
dock
Two of the local beach dogs followed me out onto the dock and kept me company.
dock
Unfortunately, the captain told me that it was too windy to make the 70-mile round trip journey and to come back again tomorrow morning. I was too awake to go back to bed, so I decided to sit out on my hotel's dock and watch the sunrise.
dock
Hung out on the old concrete dock and snoozed.

The bartender (owner?) there has a little white dog...
dock
About halfway home, I decided to stop off at Palapa Bar for a beer.
dock
Fifteen minutes later, the rain slowed down and I decided to make a break for it while the going was good.
dock
Which I realized weren't just there for show when I had to use one to seek shelter from a crazy rain storm that rolled in offshore and surprised everyone.

Most of them had had small, roofed huts at the end.
dock
Every few hundred yards along the beach was a long wooden dock.
dock
Waiting for the boat to arrive at Captain Jak's dock.

Sarah and Ben came down to see everyone off!
dock
...the noon ferry.
dock
Walked up to the dock in time to catch...
dock
Later that morning, I grabbed a kayak...
dock
...and then back into the car for a much slower-paced remainder of the drive. By the time we made it to the lake, it was so dark we had to use our car's headlights to light up the path so we could bring our luggage down to the dock.
dock
We got married in a gazebo on the hill next to the mansion overlooking the lake.
dock
Haha.
dock
Went down to the dock to watch the sunset.
dock
Dock!
dock
The view from the dock. That's Popcorn Island straight ahead. We used to snorkel out to it and explore when I was a leeetle kid.
dock
That's my mom at the bow. (If you look closely, you can see the boathouse peeking out at the very tip of Beech Island in the background).
