The cold Meredith had been fighting since we got home finally caught up with her. She had such terrible chills that she needed to wear my fur hat in bed. Look at that tan! I've never seen such a pretty sick lady!
Later that evening, a whole bunch of us got on the Metro North train to visit Ellen's new apartment just north of Manhattan. Meredith looking serene at the train station.
We invited a bunch of people to come over to our place to eat snacks, play video games and then watch the fireworks. Amanda arrived around 10, looking summer-tastic!
Holy moly, you're goooooor-geous! You have to be careful with Lisa - she can get a big head pretty quickly, so it's important to always balance out the super-pretty photos of her looking all windswept and dreamy with...
Sorry, Jenny Penny - you may have been a more realistic Amy Winehouse (with your falling-down-drunkeness and all), but Alexis' Amy Winehouse is the winner of my heart.
On Thursday afternoon, Meredith and I found out that we'd gotten the apartment in Stuytown that I loved. Meredith agreed to sign the lease with me without even seeing the place! She was like "You're WAY pickier than me. If you love it, I don't even need to see it to know that I'll love it." Here she is proudly showing off her Orwellian Stuytown ID card.
Animal FunTime Party House got even better when Leigh came by and dropped off Edie off with us! Look how excited Meredith is to have two little lap-weasels!
We got out of the rain and into a restaurant that was right on the beach. After we'd finished our lunch, it was still raining. So we hung out and drank coffee...
After lunch, we arrived back at our fantastic hostel a little before 3pm. Kraisak, the man who runs the place, had a bunch of people over and when we asked what the occasion was, he told us that it was Thai Mother's Day
Then he told us that a bunch of his friends and relatives were going to go tubing down the riving in the rain and asked us if we'd like to join them! Of COURSE we did! So we ran and got tubes...
On Friday we both got up early! My plan was to head out for an early morning dive. Mer's plan (after she was finished wearing a light-fixture as a hat) was to read by the pool.
...and got all dressed up for Tara's wedding! Awwww, how pretty is my girl? By the way, I'd like to point out that Meredith is wearing a dress that she got for a middle school dance when she was in 8th grade...
On Wednesday night I hung out with Leigh and she showed off some neat new dress she'd modified by turning the neck-strap into some cool, Motley Crue-looking satanic star. While this is a decidely non-ugly photo, Leigh will make up for that later.
So Mer and I are walking down the street on the way to Luke and Leroy's and from like 1 block away I spot this girl walking down the street and I nudged Meredith and I was like "Omigod, check out that blonde coming down the street in a mini-skirt and rainbow socks!" We were totally checking her out and then she got closer and we realized that we'd been checking out Ellen Stagg! Hahaha. (But seriously, can you blame us?)
She pretty much summed it up best when she said "The ledge was covered in coins that people had slid through the window, in an apparent attempt to harm anonymous passers-by. That, at least, was one sentiment we (as New Yorkers) could relate to." Hahah.
Okay, this pic is from a few weeks earlier when Laura was in town for "The Rules of Attraction" premeire...but it's the greatest picture ever and I didn't include it earlier so here it is.
Day Six: One of the bartenders at our resort was originally from Boston. He and his girlfriend randomly decided one day to pack up everything and move to St. Thomas. They offered to take us and some other couples a little older than us out to one of the local beaches that day and we gladly accepted.
Later that evening Kate traveled back in time to visit me at age 8. (This was some poor kid who was there at the resort with his parents. There were NO OTHER KIDS there for him to play with. We felt bad...so we got him drunk.
