All things considered, the place was in pretty good shape. Messy, yes - but nothing was broken or vandalized or stolen. (The one exception being the mysterious disappearance of my sunglasses...but we'll get to that in a bit). Sarah, Laura and Dan all came over (with a pizza!) to help clean up.
The party official ended a little after five. Our initial "let's get a head start on cleaning up now!" efforts were quickly given up on when we decided we were all too fucked up to be bothered to clean.
Laura and Sarah showed got to my apartment a little before 11pm, helped set up and sound-checked our awesome karaoke stage. (Special thanks to Mike Jurin who saved the karaokeness of the party by generously lending his speakers at the very last moment!)
Check this out: Tavis is a totally rad illustrator and snuckity snuck Laura onto the December cover of god-damned Boston Magazine. How amazing is that?
Grant and I got to the party around 1am and found most of the party in, as they say, "full-effect." Here's Grant looking slightly scared of Laura and Tavis (who after years in Los Angeles were both moving back to their native Toronto in two days!).
Later that evening, I got a call from Laura Sosin (aka "Special Sos") who you might remember from the last time I went out to visit LA. We agreed to meet up at a party that the LA Weekly was throwing to celebrate their 25th Anniversary. Here's Sos with two friends who names I've since forgotten. (Sorry, as soon as I talk to Laura I'll come back and fill them in!)
The roof pool was closed, and not even the smoothest of negotiations from the ladies ("What if we swim naked...and we let you watch?") could convince the staff up there otherwise. So we headed back down to my room, for more drinking...
Our plan was to hang out at Laura and Tavis' and then head out on the town. But before we knew it, it was well past 1am (last call in LA is at 1:30am)...
Saturday morning, I met up with Laura (aka - Special Sos) and her new
man Tavis (who is a rad graphic
designer) for breakfast. Afterwards,
we went back to the hotel, met up with Kate and hung out at the pool
for most of the day.
Okay, this pic is from a few weeks earlier when Laura was in town for "The Rules of Attraction" premeire...but it's the greatest picture ever and I didn't include it earlier so here it is.
Yeah, that's right - B.Bat's gots moves and he's not afraid to put his point on tha floor and prove it (or at least prove it all the way on the other side of the basement away from the dancefloor and where nobody is).
