Here's the rest of the photos I took in May of 2006, that didn't end up in their very own entry but still deserved to see the light of day!
Sunday, May 14th
On Sunday I took the train out to NJ to my Aunt and Uncle's house to spend some time with my family! I have no idea what the occasion was (Grandma's birthday? Memorial Day?), but whatever it was, here's a picture of my dad commemorating the day.
On Tuesday night I was hanging out at the apartment with Niki the roommate and Grant when I got a text message from Gurj telling us to come join her and a bunch of her friends at 2nd on 2nd for some karaoke! We hopped up right off the couch and headed over!
Niki, Gurj and Shruti took the stage and rocked it like they were the Asian Pointer Sisters. (I would've just said Indian but Gurjeet don't roll like that).
Gurj sings the part that goes "A few times I been around that track so it's not just gonna happen like that..." and then we'd all shout back "'Cause I aint' no hollaback GURJ!" (Because her name is Gurj! Get it?)
...but then Meredith realized that she didn't really know the song that Shruti'd chosen, and it quickly turned into a solo where Shruti sang and Meredith took turns crying...
...putting the mic down her pants. Normally, getting vee-ay-gee on the em-eye-see is an offense that'll get you 86-ed from a karaoke bar, but it's nothing...
...which turned out to be the super-huge let-down of the century when we realized she'd signed up for John Mayer's "Your Body is a Wonderland!" (WTF, GURJ?)
I need to start carrying around a lil' karaoke notebook and writing down what songs people sing! Because months later I look at all these photos and see all the awesome expressions people are making while they sing and I'm DYING to know what songs they were to! Argh!
...said goodnight to Shruti and Niki the Roommate (Gurj had to get up early the next morning and had already bailed by this point!) and called it a night!
and Vibeke (who's hands down, the most out-of-control, will do ANYTHING on a dare, girl I know). For reasons unclear, the minute I ran into her, she took her panties off and put them around my neck. (That's just how she rolls).
With Vibeke now undie-less, somehow it made sense to dare her to hover over a stool, PEE on the stool a little bit, and then stand next to the pissed-on stool at the bar and see if she could get some guy to roll up, try to flirt with her and sit down on the stool (and on her piss). Hahahaha.
Part one of the operation took FOREVER! Vibeke was shocked at her inability to clandestinely conjure up a little urine while hovering over a stool in a crowded bar! She said the hardest part was trying to keep it limited to a little trickle - she was afraid that once she started going, she wasn't going to be able to stop and was going to unleash a flood on the floor. But in the end, she managed to eek out a perfectly proportioned puddle! Here she is proudly showing off her "piss trap!"
Sure enough, 30 seconds later, some dude rolled up to Vibeke trying to be all smooth and flirty. He was like, "Hi, how's it going?" and then just as Vibeke was about to answer, he sat down IN THE PISS and she started hysterically cackling and pointing at his face. (While Jay and I fell down laughing like 2 feet behind them). The guy got really confused and got up and left in a hurry. Here's the semi-dry stool he cleaned off for us!
On Sunday night, the gang came over to our apartment to play some Cranium. Siege got a "Sense-o-sketch" question (that's where you have to draw with your eyes closed) and made the mistake of blindfolding himself with his own hat! An action that left him vulnerable to...
...all sorts of indignities from our opposing team. Here's me showing off my sweet ass (for the second time in the same entry! That's gotta be a new record!).
A band from New Jersey was setting their gear up on the stage, so we decided to stick around and check out their first song (because they had a bunch of cute girls standing around waiting to see them...so how bad could they be, right?).
The beach ended up being a little bit chilly (and the water was downright un-swimmable!) so we only ended up spending a little over two hours before heading back. Here we are on the subway platform happy...
Later that afternoon, Mer and I went to Tompkins Square to relax in the grass and read. We looked up from our books and saw two totally hot chicks crossing the park with tiny dogs. We were like "Whoa, check out those two."
As "those two" got closer, we realized it was Ellen and Leigh and that we'd just been busted checking out our own friends! Ellen was there with Piper...
...and Leigh (seen here doing her best Coldstare! Icy!) was there with her brand new dappled daschund puppy Edie! Look at her teeny, tiny little weiner body! Go ahead: Awwwwwww!
Edie (the tiny little puppy) kept bullying Piper. She'd lay in the grass and feign indifference, but then as soon as Piper wandered into "striking range"...
...SHA-POW! She'd leap into action and attack! Eventually, Piper was preemptively laying down and being like "Fuck it. You win. I'm on the ground already so you don't have to knock me over, ok?"
