The apartment across the hall from mine is vacant and they are re-painting. I took this photo and posted it to Facebook trying to get someone I know in the clutch "Kramer-neighbor" spot.
Back at the apartment, we'd discovered that the wind had blown the bathroom door shut, trapping Maddy inside. When we opened to the door to release her, we discovered that she'd been diligently working to dig her way out through the bathroom door. Haha. Dachsunds!
Richie's is a word-of-mouth business that doesn't disclose its phone number or address. You have to be referred over. I was very excited to meet him and see if he could restore the SG to playing condition!
I went to bed a little past midnight with a plan to get up early the next morning and take a day trip into neighboring Guatemala to see the massive Mayan site, Tikal.
Ty had already put so much work into the party! The door to each person's room featured a blown-up print out of their face on a disco poster! Here's the door to our room.
Some of them were holiday presents...but most of them were part of the emergency food supply that I'd ordered. (Back in the W years, this seemed like a good thing to have laying around. It also finally confirmed Meredith's suspicion that I'd graduated from "eccentric" onto "full-blown weirdo.")
Something we didn't discover until like an hour later when we were trying to leave the apartment for dinner! Luckily for us all, Scott is handy dandy, and after a couple of minutes with assorted drills and hammers (sorry about the noise, brand new neighbors) he had the door (sort of) closing again! Yay!
Oh, before I forget. Check it: In addition to Scott's big pick up truck, we hired two guys with a huge truck to help make the move go quicker.
One of the movers propped the door to our new apartment by wedging a quarter into the door jamb. We were all really impressed with this AWESOME TRICK until one of them totally destroyed our door on his way out when he tried to pull the apartment door closed as hard as could not knowing the quarter was still wedged in there.
After this happened, they totally just left without telling us, as if we wouldn't notice that the door was so badly bent out of shape that it wouldn't even close anymore.
The next morning we got up a little after 10am and took our time getting ready for an afternoon diving trip I'd booked. I was going to do two dives, and Meredith was going to come along to snorkel.
Immediately after scaring him in the shower, we ran back inside, set up the camera and Chris hid behind the door to see if we could manage to scare him twice in ten minutes.
Okay, so fast-forward two weeks - Grant's been staying home most nights to work on his place and he finally invited Emma, Fatty and me over for "the unveiling."
See this broken door? Remember the guy that tried to pry my mouth open? He got really drunk and rowdy and while I was in the bathroom peeing, I guess he thought it would be funny to start kicking the door. He got a little over-zealous (or maybe "freaked the fuck out" would be more accurate) and instead kicked the door completely off the hinges. That's right - I'm standing in the the 4'x4' bathroom peeing when suddenly the door explodes in pieces. (Thank god my dick was already out - otherwise I would've pissed my pants). So I zip up and come out screaming "What the fuck is wrong with you?" and he just shrugged and looked embarrassed.
After food we went back to the loft Katie's staying at in the "Button Factory." (For those of you not "in the know" with Portsmith, the Button Factory is huge, former, yup you guessed it, Button Factory that they've converted into Artist in Residence lofts. It's basically the Williamsburg of NH, ya dig?)
