On the subway spotted this guy wearing nearly transparent white bike shorts to showcase the absolute button mushroom of a smenis he was rocking. Well, alllllright ladies!
On Monday I took the subway out to the beach to meet up with Grant. Passing the giant cemetery is always a reminder that it's always worthwhile to make time for a beach day!
On the subway ride home Gurj and Christina were so tired that their leeetle eyes kept closing and I kept trying to take sneaky pics of them dozing off...
On my commute to work on Wednesday morning, I caught a glimpse of this woman's awesome sweater from a distance and wove my way through the crowd just like the football player knit into the back in order to get close enough to get a clear photo. So good.
Scott was wearing little soccer shorts with no lining which meant that on the way back he kept unknowingly subjecting horrified subway passengers to epicly sweet peek-a-boo ball shots like these.
I was trying to take a sneaky photo so I could just email it to him later that night, but we all started laughing hysterically and he figured out what we were up to. (Also: A guy who reads this site was in the subway car with us and recognized us as we laughed about trying to take sneaky pics of our friend's bean bag! Hahaha).
Hahaha. The subway was underground for a long time so when it finally came back up to the surface, the ladies abandoned their reading materials to text on their Sidekicks! Ha! (I was going to say that they were all sending tweets but this was two years ago and I don't think any of them were using Twitter yet! Things are changing faster and faster!)
On Sunday morning I told Meredith I was having brunch with some former co-workers that were in town visiting, but I was really secretly meeting up with Amanda, Scott and Leigh to go shopping FOR AN ENGAGEMENT RING! Oh, snap!
That's right! After four years of dating, I decided that I was going to surprise Meredith and ask her to marry me at Sarah Lewitinn's Memorial Day BBQ; it was the fourth anniversary of the very same party that Meredith asked me out on our first date in 2004!
After showering and breakfast (my stomach had thankfully returned to feeling normal after a close-call with Cairo's tap water the previous evening), I caught the subway and headed cross-town over to the district of Cairo that's near Giza.
Around 4:30 it started to get chilly and we decided to head home. Meredith wore her sunglasses all day and when she took them off she realized she'd gotten a tan-line on the bridge of her nose! Haha.
The beach ended up being a little bit chilly (and the water was downright un-swimmable!) so we only ended up spending a little over two hours before heading back. Here we are on the subway platform happy...
A few days later, Grant's mom (Pauline) and Grant's grandma Pam were in town visiting from England! (FYI, Grammy Pam, who I met back when we stopped in England during our European Vacation, TOTALLY reads this website! Hi Grammy Pam!) I met up with the three of them to do some NYC exploring! Pauline and Pam were pumped, but someone (hint: the guy in the middle) was being a Grumpy Gus! Here we are headed uptown on the subway to...
On Saturday morning Mer and I got up bright and early and took the A train out to Rockaway Beach! Fuck the Broadchannel shuttle transfer to the 118th St. Beach! We stayed on the A all the way out to 60th Street and go to the (sorta sketchy, but always totally empty) beach out there in the middle of nowhere.
