Walked back home in the rain to find my very first paycheck from Yipit made out to Flux Capacity LLC! I'm officially self-employed! Woooo!
stuytown
...but I certainly tip my hat to them.

I'm not sure who the magical cabbage planter of Stuytown is...

Whenever Maddy sees a squirrel, she lifts one paw in the air and points!
stuytown
Spring blossoms and smokestacks.
stuytown
I got up early Saturday morning...
stuytown
Spotted this black squirrel enjoying a nut on the way home.
stuytown
On Sunday afternoon we walked through the scenic center square in Stuytown...

Maddy HATE a winter wonderland. TIny dog legs mean very little belly-clearance in the snow!

Sunset over the East River.
stuytown
Check out his hooked beak!
stuytown
A really large bird. (I think it was a red-tailed hawk?)
stuytown
I SEE YOU!
stuytown
Well whatever it was, I watched it swoop down right in front of me and snatch a squirrel out of the grass a couple days later!
stuytown
Someone named Liam was having a birthday party at one of the Stuytown rooms and he had awesome balloons that spelled his name blowing around in the wind.

Not just any squirrel...
stuytown
Coming down Mission Impossible style to check to see if I have a treat.
stuytown

stuytown
They are shy...
stuytown
Stuytown has a huge squirrel population. If you look at the base of any tree, there's always a guy there looking at you.
stuytown
Stuytown goes a little overboard with the landscaping every year, but the flowers do look nice.
stuytown
Saturday was gorgeous. I enjoyed the fountains...
stuytown
On Wednesday night, we walked through Stuytown's lovely gardens over to the Blockbuster on 1st Ave (RIP, video rental stores!). It was Leigh's turn to pick out the movie...
stuytown
We noticed the diner on the corner of 14th and B was having a grand re-opening (with flags and everything!) so we decided to give it a shot for a late lunch.

Nothing makes me happier than seeing buds on the trees. WINTER IS FINALLY OVER!
stuytown
We got back to Stuytown and decided to lie down in the grass and enjoy the rest of the afternoon's sunshine.
stuytown
On Sunday, Meredith snapped this pic of me taking Maddy out for a snow-free walk.
stuytown
On Monday, Maddy got introduced to snow.
stuytown
It was only about three inches, but that's a formidable amount of snow when your tender, pink puppy-belly's only got about a half-inch of ground-clearance!
stuytown
Taking the doogs out for their first walk together in the Stuytown courtyard.

On Sunday night Matt, Lisa and Pauly all came over for FAMILY NIGHT. Check out the ridiculous spread of treats we assembled to bring in the new year.
stuytown
I like squirrels, but Stuytown pretty much has a squirrel INFESTATION. It's pretty ridiculous. As you walk along the path, every single tree will have two, sometimes three squirrels clinging to it hiding from you all Mission: Impossible style.
stuytown
Each screen was divided into four camera feeds! Bananas.
stuytown
On Wednesday evening I went to the Stuyvesant Town offices to drop off our rent check and it's the same office that houses the crazy Orwellian Stuyvesant security offices where there are three guys monitoring hundreds of remote-controllable security cameras that are mounted EVERYWHERE.

And on the way out the street I passed trays and trays of beautiful flowering plants that they were getting ready to plant all around the Stuytown grounds. (Whoopsie! Sorry about wasting money on flowers and defaulting on the 3 BILLION DOLLAR LOAN! Love, Tishman Speyer!)

Stuy Town is famous for being one of the few places in Manhattan where you can see black squirrels!
stuytown
I still had a couple of weeks off before I started my new job at Meetup. So I spent Tuesday afternoon exploring Stuyvestant Town. Here's the awesome fountain in the middle of the Stuy Town Oval.
stuytown
Stuytown is policed by robots. If you don't have this ID card on your person at all times, you will be killed by their evil lasers.
stuytown
On Thursday afternoon, Meredith and I found out that we'd gotten the apartment in Stuytown that I loved. Meredith agreed to sign the lease with me without even seeing the place! She was like "You're WAY pickier than me. If you love it, I don't even need to see it to know that I'll love it." Here she is proudly showing off her Orwellian Stuytown ID card.

By Sunday, the antibiotics and ointments I'd been prescribed had finally started to work and I no longer looked like MASK, so I decided to head back out and check out another apartment! The moment I walked into this apartment, I was like "THIS IS THE ONE!" and sure enough, we ended up taking it and moving into Stuyvesant Town! Here's our future living room!
