Someone named Liam was having a birthday party at one of the Stuytown rooms and he had awesome balloons that spelled his name blowing around in the wind.
On Wednesday night, we walked through Stuytown's lovely gardens over to the Blockbuster on 1st Ave (RIP, video rental stores!). It was Leigh's turn to pick out the movie...
We noticed the diner on the corner of 14th and B was having a grand re-opening (with flags and everything!) so we decided to give it a shot for a late lunch.
It was only about three inches, but that's a formidable amount of snow when your tender, pink puppy-belly's only got about a half-inch of ground-clearance!
I like squirrels, but Stuytown pretty much has a squirrel INFESTATION. It's pretty ridiculous. As you walk along the path, every single tree will have two, sometimes three squirrels clinging to it hiding from you all Mission: Impossible style.
On Wednesday evening I went to the Stuyvesant Town offices to drop off our rent check and it's the same office that houses the crazy Orwellian Stuyvesant security offices where there are three guys monitoring hundreds of remote-controllable security cameras that are mounted EVERYWHERE.
And on the way out the street I passed trays and trays of beautiful flowering plants that they were getting ready to plant all around the Stuytown grounds. (Whoopsie! Sorry about wasting money on flowers and defaulting on the 3 BILLION DOLLAR LOAN! Love, Tishman Speyer!)
I still had a couple of weeks off before I started my new job at Meetup. So I spent Tuesday afternoon exploring Stuyvestant Town. Here's the awesome fountain in the middle of the Stuy Town Oval.
On Thursday afternoon, Meredith and I found out that we'd gotten the apartment in Stuytown that I loved. Meredith agreed to sign the lease with me without even seeing the place! She was like "You're WAY pickier than me. If you love it, I don't even need to see it to know that I'll love it." Here she is proudly showing off her Orwellian Stuytown ID card.
By Sunday, the antibiotics and ointments I'd been prescribed had finally started to work and I no longer looked like MASK, so I decided to head back out and check out another apartment! The moment I walked into this apartment, I was like "THIS IS THE ONE!" and sure enough, we ended up taking it and moving into Stuyvesant Town! Here's our future living room!
