The December Roundup

Here are all the photos I took in December 2009 that didn't end up in their own entry.

Thursday, December 3rd

On Thursday night I went to Yodle's Holiday Party! In 2009, the company had added more than another 100 employees and had to be held in an even larger venue. We took it nice and easy compared to last year's extra-drunk ankle-spraining extravaganza!

Friday, December 4th

jenny penny, josh adcock — I was getting ready to leave work on Friday, when I got an email from Jenny and Josh "Want to come see Phish at MSG with us tonight?" Sure!

The tickets were pretty fantastic.

Phish's album A Picture of Nectar came out in February of my sophomore year in high school and I was obsessed with it. But this was the first time I had ever seen them live.

If you look carefully, you can see the patchouli in the air!

This is pretty much how the show looked in my brain. Magical.

I left after the first intermission and enjoyed a nice leisurely walk home in the cold. When I got to Stuy Town, I wandered around in the commons taking pictures of all the plants. Haha.

After a few hours of nighttime nature photography, I headed back to the apartment and watched a whole bunch of episodes of the BEATLES ANTHOLOGY. Greatest story ever told!

Saturday, December 5th

On Saturday afternoon, Mer and I took to train out to Queens to meet up for brunch near Gurj's new apartment!

Crossword nerd.

After reading a bunch of Bukowski poetry books (and really liking them) I went back and read all of his novels in the order he wrote them. (4th one in, Ham on Rye).

In Queens, we met up with Ellen...

Mega brunch.

Cream cheese-filled French Toast. OMG.

After brunch we went back to Gurj's new apartment to check out the digs! (PS - look at Piper's tongue!)

While in Gurj's room, I came across a hat and when I put it on, I was instantly transformed...

...into a TOTAL DOUCHE. Haha.

Jordon tried it on and he suddenly couldn't stop himself from flashing BILLZ Y'ALL.

Around 5pm, we decided to head to the theater down the street to see The Fantastic Mr. Fox. Group shot in Gurj's new lobby!

Now using auto-timer so I could join in the emo, Breakfast Club-esque action.

Haha.

Rainy Saturday night in Queens.

Ellen gave us all rides home!

We stoked up on new exotic flavors of Pringles. Ew!

I stayed up late watching Sons of Anarchy.

Sunday, December 6th

Mer and Maddy!

On Sunday night Mer whipped up a healthy feast for dinner.

String beans, tofu and potatoes au gratin!

pauly — Pauly came over later on in the evening for Family Night and brought cinnamon rolls again! I love his expression in this photo. Such a naughty little treat-monkey!

Tuesday, December 8th

On Tuesday afternoon, I found myself in a cab headed to the airport to fly to LA for work.

Passing the huge cemetery in Queens. Always the perfect time to remember that you will die.

By the time I landed, got to my hotel and checked in, I felt like I was coming down with a nasty cold. I ordered a room service pizza and plate of fries (only vegetarian items on the menu)...

California pizza, why do you vex me.

...and tried to will myself back into health with a marathon of Roseanne re-runs.

Still waiting for the Nyquil to kick in.

Wednesday, December 9th

I felt much better when I woke up the next morning.

I was out in LA to attend BIA/Kelsey's Interactive Local Media conference on behalf of Yodle!

emilie — Later Thursday night, I met up with Emilie and we went to an awesome vegetarian Vietnamese place!

Mmmmmmm!

Afterwards, we went to Drawing Room and had a few drinks!

emilie, me — 11pm and I'm running out of steam!

LA night.

I got back to the hotel a little after midnight and found...

court, joel l — ...Joel and Court still up at the hotel bar - we piled into a taxi and headed out for one last drink before last call!

Thursday, December 10th

Thursday afternoon drive to LAX

Homeward bound.

Thursday, December 17th

On Thursday afternoon, we left the work early and walked (in the FRIGID windy cold) over to Lucky Star lanes for Yodle's tech & product winter party!

Later that night Matt invited us to come to an awesome former-synagogue right down the street from our apt in the LES...

...to watch Taking Back Sunday play a show for an upcoming DVD. The venue was awesome!

Saturday, December 19th

biggy, maddy, matt, meredith — On Saturday afternoon, Matt and Biggy came over for a hang.

biggy, maddy — Hahaha. Oh man, photos of these two together make me laugh every single time.

See? (Biggy's hair in this pic is great).

Gurj got through work for free and had it sent to our place because we have an Xbox...

karen, mark holmes, sarah — ...Karen, Mark and Sarah came over early on Saturday evening to hang out and give it a try.

sarah — Verdict (despite Sarah's smile in this photo): Not very fun.

I stayed up late watching an awesome documentary on Netflix about the House of Medici.

This guy is about to get slain - but I took this photo because the framing made him look like he was watching a stripper holding a stripper-pole up on a stage.

By 5am, the snow had really started to pile up!

Sunday, December 20th

maddy — Maddy HATE a winter wonderland. TIny dog legs mean very little belly-clearance in the snow!

maddy — FEETS ARE COLD! PICK UP NOW?

matt, meredith, sarah — On Sunday evening I went and saw a movie at Union Square with these three!

Monday, December 21st

Our co-worker Joe went on holiday vacation a week early and his teammates decided to gift-wrap his desk while he was away. Hahaha.

Individually wrapped telephone and weight-gainer jar.

Individually wrapped keyboard and mouse. Such attention to detail!

Aw, little sick one! Leigh was traveling for work (in Spain?) and sent this pathetic photo after she had to get an IV of antibiotics.

Monday, December 28th

leigh, maddy, me — On Monday Leigh and Edie came over to pick up the last of Leigh's things to move them back to her apartment. Goodbye, Roomie!

Edie enjoys her bag so much that she'll continue to hang out inside even after arriving.

I was off for the holidays so I spent a lot of time playing (the awesome) Dragon Age Origins!

Later that night we watched the episode of 30 Rock (where Liz Lemon gets her own show called "Deal Breaker")...

biba, philip — Holy action-packed Monday! Later that night I met up with Philip and Bernadette who were in town visiting from the UAE! Happy December 2009!
