Writing this caption in the spring of 2022 (!!!) and I still really miss Odessa. These days I have to walk an extra 2 avenues to Veselka if I want some Eastern European diner comfort food.
The software I wrote to manage all my photos and power this site automatically parses-out the timestamp and displays when each photo was taken. This is how I know that this photo was taken at 1:43am. The fact that I can get fries, a delicious falafel and a phylo-dough spinach pie in the middle of the night on a Tuesday is the reason that I'll probably never be able to leave this wonderful, cursed city! By the time I landed, got to my hotel and checked in, I felt like I was coming down with a nasty cold. I ordered a room service pizza and plate of fries (only vegetarian items on the menu)...
