Thursday, July 1st

On Thursday morning we had our company's quarterly review meeting. I had to give the product update.

Tuesday, July 6th

louis ck — On Tuesday night I watched the premiere of the Louis CK's new show on FX. It included a bunch of bits we'd seen him perform at the taping we attended back in February.

Monday, July 12th

Tuesday, July 13th

samantha — On Tuesday night, we went over to some bar in the LES side because Jenny told us there'd be free drinks...

jenny penny, samantha — ...AND free ice cream!

ice ce, pauly — Beer cone.

karen, meredith — The bar was hot and way over-crowded (what with the free ice cream and all). We worked our way into a hidden corner and our exploration was rewarded with the discovery of an industrial-strength fan. A simple flick of the switch turned that shit into a Whitesnake video situation right-quick.

karen, meredith — Haha.

Wednesday, July 14th

meredith, piper — On Wednesday morning Ellen came over early before work to drop off Piper with us for a few days.

Friday, July 16th

meredith, mom — On Friday night Mer and I took the bus down to south Jersey to visit y parents. Here's my mom getting enthusiastic about late night snack time. Meredith looks shell-shocked. Haha.

Friday, July 16th

meredith — TIME TO GET UP!

Second floor starting to take shape.

dad — Dad was watching golf to his heart's content.

dad, mom — Breakfast!

dad, mom — My dad had a ham & egg sammich!

We had eggs and french toast!

meredith — There's a whole lot of nothing to be done down in the wild pine swamps of southern NJ. Book reading.

dad, me, mom — Couch napping. Here's me doing my impression of my father "ten minutes in the future." He laughed...

dad — ...then promptly fell asleep.

meredith, mom — We decided to check out the pool.

Walked the bike path over.

me, mom — The house my parent's bought is in a retirement community that has an age-minimum. Because Meredith and aren't residents, we need to be accompanied by one of my parents if we'd like to visit the pool.

STOP THE CLUTTER!!! (This place has so many rules you wouldn't even believe me).

meredith — Enjoying our parentally-supervised sunbathing.

Afternoon snack time!

meredith, mom — Meredith and my mom teamed up to try to turn the blender into an ice cream maker...

..by saran-wrapping ice cubes to the outside!

dad — Dad was impressed by their ingenuity.

Later that evening, we hopped in their truck...

...and drove over to...

...the club house again because my parents had bought us all tickets...

...to see The Unexpected Boys perform.

Sunday, July 18th

A little after noon on Sunday...

...my parents drove us up north to the bus station at Tom's River.

1pm bus to New York's Port Authority.

I read This is Where I Leave You, another Jonathan Tropper book. (I recommend it!)

When you see the yards filled with stacked shipping containers....

me, meredith — ...that's when you know you're almost home!

I'm always amazed at how even after just a few days out in the normal world, when you arrive at the Port Authority, the buildings seem unbelievably tall.

Monday, July 19th

meredith, rachael — On Monday night we went out for late night sidewalk drinks to celebrate Rachael's birthday!

Wednesday, July 21st

maddy, meredith — Saying goodbye to the ladies on my way out the door to work.

Friday, July 23rd

patrick k — On Friday morning, Patrick, Mark and myself took over one of the small conference rooms at Yodle to work on our startup-within-a-startup. (We were working on a prototype for a small-business web-site building service called StepStarter). Here's Patrick sitting at his side-by-side workstation with Mark.

vin — After work on Friday I went out to Brooklyn to hang with Vin.

He gave me an early birthday present of one of his illustrations on a shirt!

We went down the street from his place...

marion — ...to see our friend Marion's band, Sadhu Sadhu.

marion — They were pretty rad.

marion — Bonus points for playing the electric guitar with a bow.

After the show, we walked over to a bar that was closer to Bedford...

maddy — Lazy Sunday. This one couldn't even be bothered to get all the way out of bed.

Tuesday, July 27th

More painted bike lanes popping up in NYC! Here's an action shot of my daily work commute.

So much better than the subway.

Our dog looks like a tiny giraffe now everyone wants one that they can have sit next to them on the couch and get delicate kisses from.

caitlin — On Wednesday night I went out to dinner with Caitlin. She was leaving NYC after years to move with her band to Ashville, NC. She's a ray of sunshine.

She even let me order pineapple with jalapeno.

Thursday, July 29th

On Thursday morning at 9:20am, I heard my co-worker Jeff shout, "OH, FUCK!"

jeff s — This is when ironically icing your co-worker was making the rounds. Turns out someone had opened up Jeff's computer, removed all the RAM, inserted a bottle of Smirnoff inside, and then put the side-cover back on. When he tried to boot up, he got an hardware error - when he opened his computer up to investigate. He found a nice warm bottle of malty badness.

jeff s — Down on one knee and down the hatch.

jeff s — Malt-tastic.

arpan — About an hour later, Arpan opened his desk drawer to find is had been boobytrapped.

arpan — Blech.

arpan — Ah, nothing quite as refreshing as an artificially-flavored malt beverage at 10:15am

Saturday, July 31st

meredith — On Saturday I had a lazy morning with Meredith and we enjoyed the last day in July with diner breakfast at Odessa!
