...stopped by the Thai Massage place I'd visited earlier in the week. I was going to give Tuomo and his wife a reiki session and the massage owner said I could borrow one of her massage tables. Thanks!
On Thursday afternoon I went out to see Rachel at Massage Williamsburg. She liked the Flower of Life design I drew on my living room wall and wanted me to do one in her office lobby! Here's my setting up my homemade paint-marker compass!
On Sunday afternoon, I went and got a crazy deep-tissue massage from my buddy David who met at karaoke well-over ten years ago. If you're in pain near union square, make sure to get in touch with David
After I get a massage, my voice drops several whole-steps lower! I'm a tenor 1, but after a massage, I can make it all the way down to a C1 with really loud chest-resonance.
Rule of thumb for East Village massage places, the worse the decor, the better the massage. Tiger AND Leopard sheer-curtains means you're in for the massage of a lifetime!
...a thing called a Thera Cane
that allows you to get at hard to reach muscle-knots on your back. (While I'll still occasionally use this and it's awesome, I know pretty much recommend buying a lacrosse ball and using it to roll against a wall. Much easier!)
I'm alway asking Meredith to walk or kneel on muscle knots in my back and over the years she's gotten real good at it. Ellen had a sore mid-back and so Mer went to work.
I wrenched my back badly and went to get a massage. After an hour of deep massage, I still had huge knots in my back so the masseuse suggested I try fire cupping. It seemed to help, but check out the hickey aftermath left on my back from the jars!
After we'd taken a dip and snoozed in the (lack of) sun for a bit, we decided to get Thai massages! If you're looking to totally relax and chill the fuck out without spending a ton of money, you really can't do much better than Thailand.
...a massage parlor in Chinatown (aka - "The JackShack") for a rub n' tug. This place is hilarious because it's actually a legitimate massage place where they do amazing Qigong deep tissue massage (and back walking!) but every once in a while you randomly win the "hand job lottery" and get a happy ending. So Grant, Siege and I went through that swinging door you see in the back to test our luck! Fast forward one hour and two out of the three of us made out like bandits! Was the birthday boy one of them?
I now it's got a shitty name, but if you ever see one of these machines, sit the fuck down and check it out. God bless you, Wootsie, you saved the day.
After the movie, we walked around some more and found this little store that had these water massage bed thingies. You lay down inside them fully clothed, and high-powered jets of water massage you through a plastic sheet.
