My fiddle leaf fig tree had some holes in the leaves and upon further investigation I found some kind of bug infestation and had to clean all the leaves.
...and then he TURNED HIS HEAD and looked at me! We spent a few minutes just checking each other, feeling out each other's vibe, and then we said farewell.
I spotted this gorgeous praying mantis on the railing. Sometimes another creature's sentience can be shocking. I was slowly moving up next to this guy to take his picture...
They also had this insect which is the most-interesting / terrible thing I'd seen in a long time. A Peanut-head bug! From Wikipedia: "In several countries, such as Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela, there exists the myth that if somebody is bitten by the machaca, he or she must have sex within 24 hours to prevent an otherwise incurable death. The insect is actually harmless to people."
So gross / amazing. Here's an animated gif of a cicada molting from a nymph into the even more horrible end-result you see here! I hope you remember this the next time you eat a lobster. Ew!
I was sitting on the blanket, and a giant bug fell out of the tree above me and landed right in front of me. He doesn't look all that terrifying / interesting from this angle...
