Since I bought my cabin upstate, I'd been renting Zipcars to go back and forth but decided it was finally time to buy my own vehicle! (I haven't owned a car since I sold my VW GTi back in 2002!)
I had originally planned on just buying the truck outright, but my brother told me that I should apply for their 4-year, 0% financing. I have never had a credit card and don't have much of a credit history, so my brother offered to co-sign with me!
When ironic interest turns serious. You can tell that I caught Gaylor thinking about rounding out his sword collection. (UneekStore.com is unfortunately no longer a working domain!)
This is the office next to one of my startup clients. Funny to see the mix of old businesses (clothing wholesaler) next to the new ones (software company).
On our way out of town, we spotted a big thrift store and stopped off to do some costume shopping for Ty's New Year's Eve party. Last year's theme was Great Gatsby...
The main difference between younger me and older me is that older me leaves clutch vintage store finds like these unpurchased for other fashion-forward falcons to find!
The best thing about having an August birthday is that you can invite people to the beach to celebrate your birthday! A little before noon, we met up with Matt and Karen at the CVS by the 1st Ave subway to stock up on beach supplies...
After showing me the house, we headed back north to pick up Meredith at the bridal shower. I forgot to bring a bathing suit so my dad took me to Walmart so I could buy one on the cheap.
Later that night, I ran out to the Rite Aid down the street and was totally stoked to see that they'd finally organized all of my favorite AS SEEN ON TV products into their very own section!
I got back to my hotel in Cairo around 5pm. I showered, dropped off my bag and headed out into town to go shopping. Before leaving, I promised Mama Zandi, our elderly neighbor who is originally from South Africa, that I'd pick her up a new kaftan! Here's me about to enter a huge mall that was entirely comprised of stores selling women's clothes!
As soon as I got back to my room, I jotted down a whole bunch of notes so I wouldn't forget any of the details of my museum "experience" and then decided to lay down for another nap. Cairo during the day is extremely hot, busy and soooo noisy and loud and a ten minute walk through town is enough to send your body into total sensory overload.
I woke up a little before midnight and decided to check out Cairo's streets at night and to try and find something to eat!
Walking around the top floor of the mall, we looked down upon a sea of weird Thai clothing and it was then that Meredith decided we needed to do some gift shopping.
...you don't even imagine the stuff she buys for people she doesn't like. Hahaha. (Actually this shirt is, quite possibly, the best shirt EVAR!). The giraffe's all "What happened to Boo Ya? I'm totally gonna bring Boo Ya back."
Later that night Mer and I went to the grocery store to do some shopping because Meredith offered to cook my parent's dinner to celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary!
