Saturday, August 1st

jeet, maddy — Started the month off strong with a double dog hang Gurj slumber party. After walking these ladies...

...we headed out to Rockaway Beach.

vin — Had an early Sunday morning from Vin. We drank breakfast smoothies talked about what are we are doing with are lives anyway and the OK Cupid Premium subscription. Haha. Edie a big fan.

Tuesday, August 4th

Went into LeagueApps office on Tuesday afternoon the week after their company-wide strategy offsite.

brian l — Not only did they work together to define very specific, company-wide success metrics for the quarter, they made signs and hung them around the office so everyone knows the goal. (Quartly Goals: Sell 125k in new business. Launch 90% of the rev in the que. Keep 101% of revenue from churning.) Awesome to see a small, software company have explosive growth while tracking to profitability!

john m — Caught up with my Yodle colleague John for dinner. Forgot to get a picture of us together so I took a picture of the calendar appt so I'd sitll have a souvenir in my photo folder. haha.

Thursday, August 6th

ellen, me, piper, the dude — Ellen picked me up bright and early Thursday morning for a dog party hiking trip.

Friday, August 7th

dad, me — My parents came into to town to visit for my birthday.

We met up with Ellen and walked the Highline.

dad, mom — The entire Highline, much to my father's dismay! (Much further than we thought it was)

Saturday, August 8th

maddy, me — Woke up at 8:50am on my 39th birthday and this tiny genius stretched and then collapsed over my arm.

Woke up like this. Taking stock of the 90-trillion cell cosmos that's carried me thirty-eight laps around our yellow star! Here's to one more lap!

Spend the morning playing guitar...

...and making recordings with Garageband.

Treated myself to some birthday pancakes and a few chapters.

Sunday, August 9th

jane anne — Spent Sunday morning with Jane Anne...

scott — ...and then Scott and I spent the afternoon...

scott — ...at the Russian Baths. I took Scott through several intense rounds of very hot steam heat followed by at least 60 seconds in the 40-degree cold-plunge pool.

scott — That's how you know it's working!

maddy, scott — Within 10 minutes of being back at my apartment, he conked out for the night. (Sweating it out at the baths can make you SO TIRED).

maddy, scott — Sleeping with a tiny dog-ass on your shoulder! Now you know why your bicep smells like a dog fart! Ha ha!

Tuesday, August 11th

I went into LeagueApps on Tuesday...

...and they surprised me with a birthday cake.

rohit — Thanks, guys! You all are the best!

Afterwards, I biked crosstown to meet up with another start-up client. (No cake there. Psshhh)

I spend a lot of time just traveling around new york.

Subways, bikes & cabs. Still pretty to me after all these years.

Tuesday, August 18th

I spend a lot of time on my own doing a lot of strange things. In August of 2015 of was a few months deep into a pretty serious inversions practice.

Every few months I'd set up a camera to check my posture and progress (A lot of times I'd think I was upright and then see the photos and it wouldn't even be close). Anyway, I've included a few for posterity. ;)

Favorite summer dinner. Juice seaweed 2x and a 2013 sandwich...

...cantaloupe, cranberries, mozzarella pesto? What kind of evil sandwich genius?

Watched a lil bit of curb while I ate my sammich.

jane anne, treat — Finished the last of the giant tray of peanut butter rice crispies Jane Anne made me for my birthday <3 and then a sugar coma took me into it's sweet deep arms. (Thanks, Jane!)

Wednesday, August 19th

While I was out in LA tagging along with Gurj on her fancy bidness trip, I went to really neato comic book store called the secret headquarters...

...and stocked up on a bunch of illustrated gifts for Vin!

Picked up all sorts of weird things I thought he'd like.

Thursday, August 20th

While walking the dog on Thursday morning, I saw these posters up to commemorate the life of Ian Jones. (I went home and looked it up and learned that he drowned in the Hudson River while kayaking with his girlfriend. Sad).

Played some guitar about it. Sad that he died but lovely that someone hung up such a nice memorial for him around the neighborhood.

Spotted the chickens taking a dirt bath.

Got a haircut. And on the walk home...

...I spotted this beauty that someone down the street from me had out for the garbage. It was too weird and in too nice condition for me to let it go. So I brought it home and hung it up in my hallway!

Someone walked over to my building and then up my stairs to hand me this delicious meal of bufala rigatoni and a giant portobella marinated in balsamic and this is why it will be really hard for me to ever leave New York, you beautiful terrible trap.

Monday, August 24th

Lots of hub-bub in the hood bright and early on Monday morning!

The city contractors had come to remove one of the giant willow trees that had been damaged by salt water flooding during Hurricane Sandy.

Came downstairs to watch them trim it down piece by piece.

maddy — Breakfast banana and a hound walk over to the East River.

Nice olds.

Came back to find the tree totally gone.

Ran into Matt Lesser's lady friend while I was collecting a tree souvenir.

On Thursday afternoon, my building decided to try to make our smooth marble stairs less slippery with this (shoddily done) grip tape treatment. Bro, do you even straight-edge?

The best part is they ran out of grip tape so they just left the last six stairs naked. Haha.

I got a sexy new steam cleaner and packed up this old gal for the curb with a note. Take me home with you!

New pond expansion in La Plaza looking really nice.

Tree sweater is still here too!

Love watching strangers in Tompkins Park line up and wait their turn to challenge the winner at table tennis.

amanda — Had a lovely visit from Glamourmanda! I let her try my new foam-rolling balls and...

amanda, maddy — ...she was a good sport about listening to all my songs I played for her and my deep, insightful realizations about how maybe I'm not so young anymore. Maybe. Haha.

Saturday, August 29th

jane anne, maddy — Jane Anne turbo charging up with an iced tea.

Spent the afternoon trying to deal with the clutter that always seems to pile up in all my rooms.

Better-ish!

Got this book on Tarot that I really enjoy and still reference for a lot of readings.

Office reading, napping. "As your desire is, so is your will. As your will, so is your deep. As your deep, so is your destiny."

This was during a phase where I was sleeping next to my dream journal a lot in an attempt to get better at dream recollection. (I forgot to remember)
