The lights of Nashville after the tour bus departed with out me. Thanks to everyone in the AAR family for having me and making me feel so welcome! I had such an awesome time. (In typical me fashion, I hadn't bothered to book a hotel in advance. Turns out there was a big convention in town so I sat on the curb here calling 15 different hotels at 5am trying to find a room).
While we waited for the horse to arrive at the hotel (he was being transported down to Manhattan from upstate via trailer), Klaus (the manager of the hotel at the time) took us up to the roof so we could see the totally surreal view from the glass-edged roof deck. Breathtaking!
I ended up staying waaaaaaaaaaaaay too late. This is blurry Manhattan as seen through my blurry eyes on the car ride home over the Williamsburg Bridge at 7:50am on Sunday morning.
All the walls were glass so you could totally lean your head against them and feel like you were going to fall just like that scene from Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
And here's the northwest view from the top of Coit Tower. (Yo, as much as I kid around about having trouble adjusting to San Francisco, it really is hands down one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Everywhere you go, you look around and there's a view that makes you go "Whoa." If only they could get improve the public transportation and figure out a way to import tons of slutty girls...)
This is one of the pictures that Meredith STOLE FROM ME and used in her recap of the visit. She pretty much summed it up best when she said "The ledge was covered in coins that people had slid through the window, in an apparent attempt to harm anonymous passers-by. That, at least, was one sentiment we (as New Yorkers) could relate to." Hahah.
...and went up to the Observation Deck. Since deciding to move back to Texas, Tara had written up a "Things To Do Before I Leave New York" list and this was right up there at the top of it. Here's the view to the south.
