While we waited for the horse to arrive at the hotel (he was being transported down to Manhattan from upstate via trailer), Klaus (the manager of the hotel at the time) took us up to the roof so we could see the totally surreal view from the glass-edged roof deck. Breathtaking!
On Saturday night I brought a big bag of jewelry that Tara mailed me over to Home Sweet Home to shoot photos for Leviticus Jewelry. My first model, Sarah!
Then I shot Leigh (who was there playing hooky from MisShapes! Shhhhh!). People call her "Princess Coldstare" for good reason (because I mean, look at that look! Seriously!), but Leigh's the best because as soon as I put my "fancy" camera away...
Afterwards, we walked around a bunch before we found this neato grass-and-concrete checkerboard park to shoot it. There was even a cooperative pigeon there who kept hanging around in all the right places in the background. Here's one of my final pics from shooting in that location! (Necklace by Tara!)
Then a few blocks later, I came across something even stranger: this tiny, bright yellow dead bird. (Which some Googling later I've managed to identify as a Lesser Goldfinch.) I wonder if it was an escaped pet or something...
After brunch, Fatty and I were running errands around the Lower East Side, getting last minute stuff for our trip, and I got a call from Vin who said we had to meet up because he had a going away present for me. The present turned out to be this "Penis Drinking Straw."
This is Zion Levy - he's the Israeli cab driver that drove Grant and I up to Fatty's to get the rental car. When he heard we were going to Montreal, he started laughing and told us that "the Montreal women are many naughty and are enjoying to make the fuck very much." He then launched into what might be the greatest story of all time about how when he was a young lad visiting the Jersey shore, a bus load of women from Montreal showed up and he fucked most of them (including a mother and her 17 year old virgin-daughter.) Seriously, I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. If you ever get in Zion's cab, make sure to tell him you're heading to Canada.
Before heading out of town, Sarah and I went joyriding in the pimpmobile one last time (and I snapped this amazing photo of her as we drove past some WWII airplane monument - it's one of my favoritest pics of all time).
