Biking home from my 5th consecutive week of working for SinglePlatform I watched these crazy VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) V-22 Ospreys coming in for a landing at the heliport on the East River.
...is going to look like this. We had a slight delay because the battery cart that they use to jump-start the plane's single propeller didn't have enough charge to get the plane's engine started! So they hooked up a bunch of car batteries to the cart and then rolled it back out.
We wandered the massive Hong Kong terminal for a few hours, then it was time for the third and final leg of our trip: a four-hour flight from Hong Kong to Denpasar, Bali!
Seventeen hours later we arrived in Hong Kong and went to a restaurant where we got to watch the sun rise behind the mountains that ring the airport tarmac.
Many hours later, I decided to check out the movies and ended up watching The Proposal which much to my surprise (and the surprise of the poor people who were sleeping around me) actually made me cackle out loud several times. Not even married for 24 hours and already enjoying Ro-Cos. Tragic.
Hahaha. On my flight back to NYC from Abu Dhabi I sat next a restless, grumpy older man from somewhere in Africa. He couldn't seem to get to sleep and opted to eschew the airline-provided sleepmask in favor of dramatically re-throwing a huge blanket over his head and sighing EVERY TWENTY MINUTES FOR THE ENTIRE FOURTEEN-HOUR FLIGHT. Hahaha. Here's me giving him very worst stinkeye after he elbow-jostled me awake for the TENTH TIME!
Less than 30 minutes after taking off, I was deplaned in Sharm el-Sheikh and looking for a taxi to take me 50 miles northeast to Dahab! Check out the desert mountains in the background!
