As soon as I made it through immigration, I bought another ticket to take a regional flight down to Placenia, a sleepy beach town about 90 air-miles south of Belize City.

Seventeen hours later we arrived in Hong Kong and went to a restaurant where we got to watch the sun rise behind the mountains that ring the airport tarmac.
After we ate, we walked around the terminal a bit and looked at some ceremonial African clothing they had on display at a big exhibit. This is basically where the boogey man came from.

Despite having severely injured her ankle at my company's holiday party the previous week, Meredith insisted her ankle was fine, and elected to leave her crutches at our place and packed super-light with just one bag.
