Saturday, September 30th After 10+ hours of driving my new truck from Florida up to NYC, I stopped at the NC/SC border and got a shitty hotel room and a shitty Dominos pizza. Stayed up late foam rolling my sore-from-driving back. Sunday, October 1st Woke up feeling like a bag o bones and had to do a whole morning stretching routine to prepare for another 6 hours of driving to DC. By 11am, I was feeling vaguely human and ready to checkout and hit the road again Made it to DC about 4.5 hours later. Just in time to catch these rugrats before dinner and bedtime. Baby Sam reminds me so much of my dad! Monday, October 2nd Got up early Monday morning to spend some time with Max before school... ...and then hopped in my truck for the last leg of my long-ass drive back to NYC. Was feeling sad but also relieved to be home. Tuesday, October 3rd Met up with Grant at Odessa (RIP!) to give him the keys to the cabin so he could go up there for a few days. After we ate - I took him up to the garage to hand over the truck! There is this car in my neighborhood that has the tiniest spoiler on the back and it makes me laugh every time I see it. Wednesday, October 11th Jane Anne got really into the 2017 drawing-on-your-eyebrows trend. Later that evening I met up with Vin for dinner and drinks at Loverboy. Friday, October 13th Friday night I drove up to the cabin with Matt. We picked up a dinner at Man of Kent and feasted back at the cabin. Saturday, October 14th Nice to wake up on the mountain in the fall air. Headed to Lumberjack's for a coffee and a breakfast sandwich. Opened the outhouse to discover that Grant had hidden the skeleton in there in an effort to scare me. Lol. After breakfast, we decided to hike.... ...up to the top of my property. Nice to be out of the city sometimes. ;) After our hike, we hung out at the cabin for a bit... ...and then drove into Bennington and I bought a guitar to have up at the cabin. Another night of Man of Kent take-out by lantern-light. Mmmmmm. Sunday, October 15th On Sunday morning, Matt realized that he was wearing the same outfit that Jeremy always wears in Peep Show. Before leaving, we had to drain the rainwater barrels... ...I brought the skeleton out of the outhouse and back into the cabin. Then we loaded up the Wolverine and hit the road. On the drive back to NYC we stopped off to visit Ellen & Hans! <3 Sunday night I watched the Michael Alago Netflix documentary called "Who the F**ck is That Guy" and there were some great shots of my Alphabet City neighborhood from the early 80s. Monday, October 16th Kevin came over on Monday for a hang and a much-needed reiki-trade. Tuesday, October 17th Got a new paper light-shade for my ceiling light-fixture. Wednesday, October 18th On Wednesday had a board meeting to review growth-plans with Voray's investors. Thursday, October 19th On Thursday morning Jane Anne and I broke up. She took this sad pic of herself on my camera before leaving. :( Hung out with Kev again later in the evening. Maddy always falls asleep on him in the cutest ways. Friday, October 20th Over the past few months, the price of Bitcoin had increased from about $1200 to $5600 in October. Lots of people were expecting it to go down.... ...but I had a feeling it would continue to rise in value and tried to predict, based on past data, when bitcoin might break $10,000 for the first time. I predicted April 2018, but it ended up happening even more quickly by November 28th, 2017! I spent a lot of time wondering if this graph is going to end up looking like... On Friday night Meredith and Gurj came over! We had dinner at my place... ...and then did a late night drive up to my cabin. Arrived at 3am! Saturday, October 21st Back to back fall weekends at the cabin! Had to wake up early to keep the fire going in the chilly cabin! So nice to hang with these lovelies and enjoy a fire in the sun. Meredith rolled up a nice lil doober... ...and then we grabbed some beers and went for a hike on the mountain. Back at the cabin, Gurj got busy splitting wood with a sledge and a wedge. ...needed more smaller pieces so we could keep the wood stove in the cabin going. Nicely done, Gurj! Man of Kent takeout dinner is a cabin staple. Monday, October 23rd A day of guitar, napping & foam rolling. Wednesday, October 25th Hung out with Kevin on Wednesday and he showed off his new ultraviolet light device that is supposed to help heal psorisis. Friday, October 27th Hung out with this cutie on Friday afternoon. Saturday, October 28th New York City, you are at times, the most-cruel mistress. Must've been a sick bike. But then on the next block of my walk I encounter a community-made, 16' (?) sixteen-foot tall cardboard monster in the garden and she's redeemed. Later that evening I went up to the Upper East Side... ...so that I could babysit baby Lukas while Mother of Dragons & Randy went out to a Halloween party! Such a good costume! I sat there with our two aging dachshunds, holding my friends' ten-month old baby... ...thinking about my recent breakup with Jane and then learning that my dad had to go back into the hospital....and had a nice long cry about life and the ever-quickening passage of time. Happy October 2017 everyone! <3
