Josh's wife reached out to me about scanning some old photos of Josh for his upcoming 40th birthday. I was happy to oblige. Jeans and sandals with a walking flexdown when he sees the camera? Classic Newman.
While walking Maddy through Tomkins, we briefly paused to admire this hunk, you know, just hanging out in the dog park all casual. Probably waiting to meet an OKCupid date.
Her: "The dog park? Sure! That would be a great first place for us to meet. How will I find you there?" Him: "Oh, you'll see me."
Later that night, Mer and I went out to meet Mandy & Mike for a quick Halloween drink in the neighborhood. Here's Mike bonding with another Captain America. October 2012, was a doozy!
One more flexdown for the road! I love how he's basically putting his muscle-bound elbow right into his friend's earhole. (PS - how much does Mohamed's friend in the middle look like a young Gregory Hines? Crazytown!).
...other friends! Hahaha. I forget this guy's name, but he was hilarious. He was like one of the few guys in the town who was super into bodybuilding and was excited to have someone puny like me to flex-down next to. This photo makes me laugh every time I look at it.
No Mercy! (Thanks again for the shirts, Dave! After I received the shirts, I spent like two hours on 80sTees.com reminiscing about TV shows I'd totally forgotten about!)
I thought I was so funny for doing the whole "flex-down while ironing" thing until I looked at the photo later and realized the reason Meredith was laughing so hard was because Grant had managed to brain me in the background.
Making things even better (worse?), at the time, Grant was doing all kinds of body building because he was writing for Muscle and Fitness magazine. So he looked like if Miyam Bialik was a member of the Ukranian Women's Weightlifting Team.
When Laura lamented missing out on the orange muscle-tee up close (Grant was sweaty and changed shirts after the show), he gave her a special admission ticket...to the GUN SHOW!
Grant was wearing an orange muscle-T and pointed to the stage while doing a flex down every chance he got. "Yes, we'll be playing OVER THERE ON THE STAGE in a few minutes." Hahaha.
But after the first pic, Grant turned around and gave a Randy "The Macho Man" Savage-style FLEX DOWN! Hahhahaha. (Oh, and here's a lil' treat! It's the hi-res, large version for all you Grant fans out there (mostly dudes, I'm assuming) who are looking for a little "Beefcake Stoddard" desktop wallpaper action.)
Hulk Hogan's (not so) Little Sister. Jesus Christ, look at that fucking forearm! We would've been laughing hysterically if we weren't so scared that she was going to grab hold of one of our heads and crack it open like a walnut with her bare (man)hands.
Hannah and I have one thing in common: get three drinks in either of us and you're probably gonna start to see some flexing going on. Which invaribly gives way to...
...and when that didn't get an immediate response, I upped the ante with "beefcake" version (check out Grant's sassy, coy lil' smile! Tee-hee!) ...and SHA-POW! It worked. Grant and I got the green light: we were going to become male strippers.
Underneath our "Greaser Jeans," all the T-Bird boyz were wearing matching, red, 50's-era, Banana-Hammock style bathing suits. We cooked up a boys VS girls sing-a-long routine to "Summer Lovin" and halfway through the routine, we all dropped our pants and wowed the judges with our matching marble sacks (and our manly physiques).
