Two Beach Days at Fort Tilden

Blessed with the beautiful weather of a late Indian Summer, we managed to make two September trips to the lovely (and top secret) Fort Tilden beach in Brooklyn.

Sunday, September 7th

We rode out there big pimpin' style in Big Daddy's Ford Focus SVT (Which is party of Ford's SEVERELY LIMITED EDITION of 40,000). Hahaha.

Grant, Fatty, Colin (Big Daddy) and me.
We arrived to find our lovely beach even more deserted than usual.
Craziness, right?

Grant reading. Oh, and see those sunglasses he's wearing (which were borrowed from Tara)? Say goodbye to them, because it's the last time you'll ever see 'em! Shortly after this pic was taken, Grant accidentally threw the frisbee into the water and when he went in to retrieve it, he got utterly clobbered by a giant wave....and he lost both the frisbee and the glasses for good. Nice going....JERK!

In all fairness to Grant, the waves were enormous that day.

Check out Grant doing his best to keep his footing while getting pummeled!

Some were almost 6 feet tall!

Here's a close-up of the photo above (where you can clearly see that Grant's risking his life to moon us). Hahaha.
When Grant finally managed to escape the undertow, Fatty was waiting on the beach to try to keep him in the water.

A few minutes later, Colin realized he'd missed one of his quarter-hourly sunblock applications and we had to evacuate the beach before he spontaneously combusted. Um, either that or it was just getting late - I forget which.

Monday, September 22nd

On Monday, Grant and I decided to play hookey from work. We borrowed Fatty's car (inside which we found and looted his "Ye Olde Money Barrel" piggy bank) and headed back to the beach.

By the time we got out there and took a quick swim, the sun was already beginning to set.
The beach was absolutely deserted. No one was there.

Just me and tha Grizza.

So long sweet summer.
See you next year!
