Job Interview in San Francisco

After a few month of friendly chatting, my buddy Philip raised some money to grow his online advertising marketplace and I was asked to fly out to San Francisco to interview for the job.

I ended up flying into San Jose and staying near the airport there (neither Philip or I had any sense of the geography out here and at the time, this seemed to make sense) I checked into my room at the Hyatt (where my comments are appreciated) and got on the phone trying to find something to eat. Even though it was only 11pm, there was NOTHING open in the vicinity. My only choice was...
hotel ˆ work ˆ me
...awwww, yeah - muthafucking Dominos.
After I was finished housing the pie, Philip swung by and we hit the town looking for a drink. Believe it or not, the only bar that we found that was open was this karaoke bar. (I swear, we weren't even looking for karaoke).

Gloria, how's it gonna go down? Will you meet him on the main line? Or catch him on the rebound?
Will you marry for the money and take a lover in the afternoon? Well, I feel your innocence slipping away. And no, Gloria, I don't think it's coming back soon.

After my screaming rendition of Gloria's tale of woe (that crazy whore)...Philip wanted to sing something easy.
pud
Something Easy Like a Sunday Morning (ahh-ahh-ah-ahhhhhhhh.)

After our jams, we were shooting the shit about his company and the prospect of me moving out to San Francisco when this lady (who weighed like 83lbs and was totally spun out of her mind on meth) came over to us and just kept talking and talking and talking and talking. The only time she even stopped to take a breath was when she smiled for this photo. After ten minutes of politely enduring her word-torrent and hinting that we were ready to be left alone, we finally gave up and literally walked away in the middle of her (still!) talking. Thumbs up for meth!
The next morning I got up early (which always happend when you fly west) and had myself a little poolside snooze in the sunshine.
The meth-lady the previous night had shaken my confidence in my ability to adapt to the west coast, but the palms swaying in the morning breeze made me feel a little better.
But could I actually live out here? I wasn't sure.

At 12:30, Philip picked me up and we headed over to his company's new incubator offices in Menlo Park.

The interview went great (as you know, I was offered the job and took it) and afterwards, we headed into San Francisco and met up with some friends for drinks.

Philip invited his friends Jim and James (of HotorNot.com fame).
alysha, me
And I invited Brian and Alysha (who I know from Modem Media waaaaay back in the day).
After drinks, I headed to the airport (excited, but scared out of my tiny mind with the thought of leaving my entire life behind and moving out to San Francisco).
Emergency exit, anyone?
