After our unscheduled drive back from Ohio for Steve and Rachel's wedding, we returned to our Rockaway Beach summer rental; which we were relieved to find relatively unscathed by Hurricane Irene.
I'd been renting longboards for most of the summer, but for the last few days I'd been trying out a used shortboard (6' 4") that was for sale trying to decide if I should buy it.
We arrived to find that the house was in less-better-than-promised condition. The scaffolding was still up, and the yard was piled with trash. But, hey! The roof doesn't leak and it's one block from the beach! Wooooo!
Before hanging up any flyers, we went to check out a place (that we ended up taking). The outside was under construction (and continued to be under construction...foreshadowing!)....
