Hahaha.
vin
Later that night I met up with Dave and Vin in the East Village for some beers...
vin
Vin pretty much had this expression on his face the entire time we were in the store. Who doesn't love Ikea?
vin
...catch the bus to...
vin
On Saturday afternoon, Meredith and I met up with Vinay (seen here holding a disposable camera that I found that was from back when he and I were in college!)...
vin
Since I like to play devil's advocate (almost as much as I like to see people I love get kicked in the face by accident), I asked Eric to see how close he could come to kicking Vin in the face without actually hitting him. (Pretty darn close!)
vin
...Eric pretending to kick him the face!
vin
...and watch Eric P. show off some of his kung-fu moves. Here's Vin getting ready to take a picture of...
the august roundup
August, 2006
vin
Ken, Vin and Dave (this picture makes me giggle). The apartment was getting crazy-packed and sweaty so we all decided to go outside to cool off...
vin
Eric P. is a kung-fu master. No joke.
vin
On Saturday night I met up with Vin and Eric P. (who I hadn't seen since college back in '98!) and we went to our friend Connor's house party to see Conor and Josh play in a new band.
vin
I hadn't really planning on doing anything to celebrate my actual birthday, but I relented and decided to text a few people and see if anyone was available to meet up for a last-minute, low-key dinner at Kate's Joint. A few people texted back so at 8:30 Meredith and I headed over to Kate's to meet up with Ellen, Vinay...
vin
Saying goodnight to Vin and Aya.
vin
Vin & Dave (making their extremely intimidating "tough" faces) and Aya.
vin
Later that night I met up with a whole bunch of old school friends to do a little bar pre-gaming before going to see Lifetime (one of my fave bands) play at the Bowery Ballroom. Here's Vin and Dave.
vin
And here's the BIRTHDAY NINJA! Hahaha. Happy birthday, Vin!
vin
And here's Vin with his bonsai tree cake!
vin
Here's Aya with the birthday boy!
vin
...to celebrate Vin's birthday! Ninja is a theme restaurant and when you walking in the entrance, all you find is a 5' x 5' room with a hostess and two big, stainless-steel elevator doors. The hostess gets your name, quietly whispers something into a walkie-talkie, and the elevator opens. It takes you down one floor and then you're led to your table (by a ninja!) through a dark, twisty passage where all sorts of other ninjas jump down off of platforms and pop out of trap doors and scare the shit out of you. Here's Vin waiting for the elevator to open!
