Here's Vin getting ready to light what he's betting me $20 will be his "last cigarette...EVER!" (Update: He managed to make it for six days before he had to hand over a Mr. Jackson.)
First off check out Vin's face (hahahah)! So after getting a clutch shot of Emma with the "pressed hams" move, I thought I'd continue the streak and take one of my famous "You're posing with my balls but you don't know that you are" pictures with Crazy Marni. The plan was that I'd go up to her with them out, snap a couple of shots to lull her into a false sense of security, and then turn the camera lengthwise introducing my plums into the equation. Everything was going smoothly until...
Friday night I went out with Vin and Matty - we were sitting in the Two Boots Pizza on Bleecker and Bway, having ourselves a lil' slizzice at 2am-ish, when suddenly a six-person fight broke out that lasted for more than ten minutes. I was so stunned I totally shit the bed and didn't even take any pictures. I was so entralled I think I'd forgotten I even owned a camera. Anyway, here's a pic of us afterwards laughing about it while we stood around watching the pizza workers explain to the cops (who took forever to show up) what had happened.
After brunch, Fatty and I were running errands around the Lower East Side, getting last minute stuff for our trip, and I got a call from Vin who said we had to meet up because he had a going away present for me. The present turned out to be this "Penis Drinking Straw."
...and this guy! I wish I could remember his fucking name! ARgh! He was a total Staten Island-style guido who was pretty much the friendliest guy I've ever met. He saw us taking pictures and wanted to take a look at my camera...which of course led to us taking pictures with him.
So the night started out at Chris and Mandy's awesome backyard in Park Slope (they're married now, remember?). I was so busy eating that I apparently only managed to take this one picture (of Vin and Mandy). I swear I took others, because Jamie Rubin whom I went to high school with was there and I thought I took a bunch with him, but for the life of me I can't find them. So bah, I'm a loser. Sorry.
Third Avenue McDonald's: 4am. I used Photoshop to remove that big old dollop of Special Sauce on Vin's face, but the picture just wasn't the same without it - so I put it back in.
Shortly after, Viola and her crew took off (probably becaues the likes of us were getting let into the place). Grant ordered another steep G&T in preparation for the much more difficult task of trying the same lines on girls that he's never lived with.
I met up with a well-liquored Grant on 2nd & 2nd and we walked up to meet Vinay outside of Plaid on 13th & 4th (actually "well-liquored" is probably a bit of an understatement considering he almost threw up on the walk up).
My friend Vin lives way out in Brooklyn, so when we we're out late in Manhattan, it's not uncommon for him to crash in the extra bedroom at my aparment. So recently, I'm downloading pics off of my old Canon Elph, and I find a series of pics like the one above. When I asked Vin about them, he explained: "Well, I woke up in the morning and I heard your roommate Victoria out in the kitchen, who I kind of think is hot."
Me, "So, what does that have to do with all these pics?"
Vin, "Well, I had to go to the bathroom and so I'd have to see her in the living room and I felt like I had 'puffy' hair and you don't have a mirror in your room, so I, you know, took a bunch of pics to check out my hair."
Me, "Oh, okay." "You know I'm gonna post these right?"
Vin (quietly), "I hate you."
Later that night - Tara and I went to see the Fatal Flying Guillotines (friends of hers from Texas) play at Lit. Afterwards, we went over to SinSin and kicked it. (L to R: Vin, Tara, me, Jaime, and one of Jaime's friends).
On the walk back up, we stopped to get pizza. I'm standing talking to Vin as he eats his slices. Marco comes out of the pizzaria with his slice and stands next to Vin - as they're standing next to each other talking, I notice something...
So we walk all the way down to Chinatown only to find that the party's long since over and all the cute girls (if they even existed in the first place) are nowhere to be seen (fucking Vin, sheesh).. But on the upside, on the walk back up towards the East Village, we found this picture of Jesus that someone had put out for the trash and we decided to save him (God knows how many people he's saved so, you know, it was the least we could do).
Even though it's more expensive than it used to be back in the day, you really can't beat The Cherry Tavern "Special." A can of Tecate and a shot of tequilla for $4? Wha?
After C-Tav, we heading down to E. Bway to meet the cute bday girl and all her cute friends that supposedly want to meet us. En route, we ran into Sarah L. who got to meet Vin for the first time.
After a few minutes of me sitting next to Vin, Marco notices that we're both wearing the same shirt (albeit, in different colors) and starts totally giving us shit. (Keep this in mind for later...)
Grant had just broken up with his girlfriend Erica (for the 8th time, but really, who's counting, right?) and wanted to stay home and mope. Instead, Vin and I managed to convince him to go to our friend Kusum's rollerdisco brithday party at the Roxy. After a little bit of Vin-nuzzlin' failed to cheer him up...
Vin with Kusum, the birthday girl! After this, Grant went home and Vin and I went to The Hole - but the only pic I have from there is a totally obscene weiner shot of me peeing in the sink and laughing. Contrary to popular belief, I actually do have a real job and posting full-on dickshots on the web's pretty steep - even for me. So for now, you're just gonna have to settle for the numerous, gratuitous ball-shots.
...Vin pulled out the big guns and tried reading him poetry he had written back from when he was sad from his last breakup. With Grant still utterly inconsoleable, we figured rollerskates might be our only option.
...and then stopped by Amy Werner's bday party over at some patio bar on 2nd Ave. Chris, Grant, Vin, Chris Rubino and Dave the Ladies' Choice. (The birthday girl's not pictured in any of these...doh.)
Just in case you're wondering why Vin's making that face it's because Grant kept holding his arm up next to Vin's and being like "Look, I'm darker than you! I'm supposed to be white and you're supposed to be the brown one, but I'm browner! Me!"
Saturday night Vin and I headed out to Billyburg to meet up with a bunch of our friends at some Fader Magazine party - but by the time we got done at the BQE Lounge, the party had gotten busted up by the cops. So instead we met up with Dave G The Ladies Choice at Rockstar bar and then headed over to see his new (ridiculous) apartment. Then we went up on his roof...and from there climbed up onto the billboard tower that runs right next to...
Vin and I were tooling around the East Village and we deciding to pop into Ace Bar...where (like Dennis Crowley before us) we were promptly sucked into playing two solid hours of Big Buck Hunter II.
On Monday night I headed to the "all lit up" Indian restaurant near the corner of 1st Ave and 6th Street for Vin's birthday! Vin's birthday this year was much more low-key than last year's sordid affair. Here's me and the birthday boy.
