museum — In 2003 they were renovating the basement of the museum when they discovered an old limestone wall. It was eventually determined to be built by Louis XIII in the 1630s. Thought it was cool to see a flower of life carved into a portion of the wall they have on display.

museum — ...Chaim Soutine's Order out of Chaos. (This was excellent! I wish I could've taken some photos in the gallery).

I also saw Monet's huge installation of waterlillies, Les Nymphaes.

museum — Portrait of Dali by Philippe Halsman entitled...

museum — ...Like two erect sentries, my mustache defends the entrance to my real self.

museum — ...and you see a caricature of the artist! This form of graphical projection is called Anamorphosis.

museum — I also really liked this painting At first glance it looks like some kind of mosquito-like insect, but then you notice the metal cylinder...

museum — The museum is located in the art deco-styled former post office of Nashville.

museum — Maybe I'm just partial to the captioned-photo format, though.

museum — My favorite thing there was Carrie Mae Weems' "From Here I Saw What Happened and I Cried" (1995-96)

museum — ...I headed upstairs to have a serious pinball reunion with some old favorites. (Twilight Zone, Addam's Family AND FunHouse! So good!)

museum — Still had some time to kill, so a few of us headed over to check out the awesome (and unfortunately, now-closed) National Pinball Museum! After checking out some of the older games...

museum — This entire room was filled with TVs that are making crazy patterns. Megatron Matrix by Nam June Paik. Not for the epileptic.

museum — Woah, this guy!

museum — They had an exhibit on Phantasy Star! This was the first RPG I ever played and it had a bigger impact on me than any other game I played growing up!

museum — Phantasy Star was also the first videogame to feature dungeons with a first-person view. I can still hear the music from 1987 in my mind.

museum — It was like a museum of my childhood.

museum — Speaking of music I can hear in my mind, it was fantastic to watch little kids play Super Mario Bros for the first time and see that it still totally holds up to fresh eyes.

museum — ...and then on to the Smithsonian to check out their special exhibit...
