Doug and Inka Visit

The last time I saw Doug, he was in town visiting from the Czech Republic and was dating a Czech girl! A little over three years later, and this time he was visiting from Finland with his Finnish girlfriend, Inka! (Happy to report that I'm writing this a year and a half later and they're still together!).

Tuesday, September 4th

doug, me — On Wednesday night I got the call that Doug had arrived and we met up for a drink! Here's the first pic of our epic reunion. Unfortunately, I thought we were both going to do the whole "smiling nicely thing" while Doug clearly thought it was "funny face" time.

doug, me — So I pulled the ol' "get a load of this fugging guy," but Doug...

doug, me — ...was in the process of smiling when I went to make my ugly face! We promised that we'd rehearse over the next couple of days.

Wednesday, September 5th

hector, meredith — On Wednesday evening, Meredith (and Hector in a bag!) and I...

doug, john roche — ...met up with John and Doug and we all got delicious Korean food together!

doug, john roche — After dinner, we went back to our apartment and played a little bit of Guitar Hero as a warm up. Then, for the main event...

john roche — ...we walked over to Planet Rose for some karaoke! John kicked it off the jams with...

doug, inka — When we were all in college together, John was totally straightedge! So Doug was shocked to see him drinking and getting all crazy at karaoke.

Next, Inka's friends who were twin sisters sang! (I forget their names! Sorry!)

doug — Then it was Doug's turn! He went big and decided to bust out some IRON MAIDEN!

doug — Here he is channeling Bruce. (With his foot up on the monitor, no less! Ha!) RUN TO THE HILLS!

doug — RUN FOR YOUR.....LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIFE!

john roche, me — Nothing makes two guys more cuddly than a tender rendering of an old Maiden classic.

Then I sang something. Before I relinquished the mic...

...I apparently used it to pretend I had a big, black cock.

inka — Next up! Inka and one of the twins! Inka ended up rocking out so hard during the intro to her song...

inka — ...that she totally ate shit and fell before her jam even got going! Hahha.

Hahaha. I don't remember if this guy was drunk or just embarrassed!

inka — But these two certainly weren't going to let a little falling face-first into the carpet dampen their karaoke party! When life hands you lemons, you make lemonade! And when your singing friend falls down during karaoke - you just mount their stomach and ride them like a cowboy while they hump the air underneath you! That's just what you do!

doug — Right, Doug?

inka — Inka, out of all the girls Doug's dated, and I've met most of them, you are, by far, my favorite! Woooooo!

john roche — Just in case the photos haven't tipped you off, we were pretty drunk by this point in the night. Right around this point, John put in a song, but they guy that was queuing up the songs accidentally played a different song that the same name twice in a row...and John, one of the nicest guys I know, totally got drunk and shitty with him...

doug, me — ....and we got thrown out of the karaoke bar! Hahahaha. Here's me and Doug laughing outside about how for the first time it was John getting us in trouble instead of the two of us getting John in trouble!

doug, inka, john roche — Despite our karaoke set back, it was only 2am so the night was still young! We decided to head downtown and check out Orchard Bar. We relaxed and had another drink...

...and then we decided to hit the dance floor and turn the one-person dance party into a...

doug, john roche — ...FOUR-PERSON DANCE PARTY! Woooooo!

amanda, me — Then Amanda joined in and we had an epic FIVE-PERSON DANCE PARTY!

doug, john roche — Wanting to make sure we avoided a second round of trouble, Doug and John worked to befriend the bouncer! I had to get up early the next morning, so I ended up calling it a night around 3:30. Doug, Inka and one of the twins ended up going out to John's place in Brooklyn and pulled an all nighter! Great seeing you guys! Miss you all so much!
