While I was in midtown I stopped by Koreatown to TREAT MYSELF to a bi bim bab feast. Ugh. (Just captioning this photo is going to make me have to go there tonight now. Fuck).
On Friday afternoon, I met up with my friend Happy in Chinatown and she took me to Chego for lunch. Korean / Mexican fusion food. So weird and delicious.
I stopped by my favorite Korean place in the area (Express Mana Kitchen, mmmm!) and got their kick-ass tofu bi bim bab lunch special. I COULD EAT THIS FOR EVERY MEAL.
Korean street food snacktime! Dduk-bok-kee and these awesome egg sandwiches that they sell all over Korea. It's like an omelet made with onions and Korean vegetables, and then they mix in ketchup, mayo, a tablespoon of sugar and serve it up on fried bread! I asked the vendor what it was called, excited to learn a new Korean snack food, and then she told me it was called "Eggu toastu." Hahah.
I walked in the door, saw all these bowls stacked, and was like "JACKPOT, MOTHERFUCKER!" Anybody that knows me, knows that one of my favoritest things in the whole world is bi bim bab. FUCK, YES! The only other time I'd ever been in Korea before had been during layovers at the airport and I was never able to find a proper bowl. So I was totally psyched to have my first "official" bowl of bi bim bab in Korea.
An hour or so after we left the airport, our two buses pulled over and let us all out so that the two groups could join up and grab dinner at a restuarant and get to know each other.
