tagged together in 14 photos nypd + police Army of NYPD gathering in prep for the parade. This is the last pic I snapped before bundling up with Maddy (no power = no heat!) and going to sleep. By 10pm almost all of the car headlights had died out and the street was getting dark. Long camera exposure. Door handles covered! ...I've never seen the East River this far west before. Haha. Wheels completely covered now. Three feet high and rising! ...I went back upstairs to watch the surreal show from my window. As the water slowly crept up, cars with low-clearance started flooding with water. This police van came by... ...to pick up all the cops who were stranded in their cruisers in the now-five-inch-deep water. The daring rescue was a success. All ankles were kept dry! Po-po beach cruiser and no waves. Lots of police, but they for the most part seemed amused / interested. Cops at RollerJam USA, Staten Island 1:48am. On Saturday morning Meredith and I woke up super early so that we could carpool up to Maine to spend the three-day Memorial weekend at our friends' James & Gretchen's wedding!
